I found this useful diagram at troubleshoot vehicle.com. It answers your question. Fuse box is located below steering column.

have you checked the fuse box and both brake light bulbs?
check the microswitch on the brake pedal also. once the pedal moves downwards the switch should activate.

if you can check the resistance of the switch with a multimeter then you would expect to see low resistance once you press down on the switch.

With a testlight you can check every fuse in the box without pulling a single fuse in about 10 minutes.
Find a good ground for the testlight near the fusebox. The tops of the fuses have a little opening on both ends that accept a testlight's probe.
Start by turning key to on (engine off), and turn lights on. Now every fuse in the fusebox will be powered. You touch the probe into both ends of each fuse to test them. Good fuses will light the tester on both ends. Bad fuses will only light up on one end.

Relay contacts may have fused. Try swapping it with another 5-terminal relay in the box (under the hood).

open the drivers door and look at the corner of the dashboard. a snap on lid you will see that is the fuse box

I have looked in my chev manual and there is no relay, but the fuse box has the fuse for this. Check this to see if fuse is blown.

The fuse box is in the engine compartment on the fender on the drivers side. Plastic black box with a lid that comes off.

should be in the glove box, or under the driver side dash. May need to remove under dash cover.
