How to replace fan belt on a Mitsubishi pajero

Instructions
  1. 1 Open the bonnet of the Pajero, and turn the bolt on the centre of the tension pulley with a socket wrench two full rotations. The tension pulley is the pulley directly behind the fan in the upper portion of the front of the engine.
  2. 2 Loosen the adjuster bolt on the tension pulley bracket. This bolt is on the left-hand side, situated in a long horizontal groove.
  3. 3 Slip the fan belt off of the engine. Draw a diagram of the path of the fan belt if the factory printed sticker diagram is no longer in the front of your engine on your Pajero.
  4. 4 Insert the new fan belt, winding it through the various pulleys according to your diagram. Put it on the tensioner pulley last.
  5. 5 Place the tension belt tool on the tension pulley bolt and pull until the slack in the belt is gone. When there is no slack, keep the pressure on the pulley, and tighten the adjuster bolt with the wrench. Tighten the lock bolt on the pulley.

How to put on serpentine belt

Hi,

The tools required are:
1/2-inch drive ratchet
2 - 1/2-inch drive 8-inch extensions
1/2-inch drive socket set

Please follow these steps to replace the serpentine belt on your 1999 Chrysler 300M:

1. Open the hood and prop it in place.

2. Locate the serpentine belt adjustable idler pulley on the front of the engine. This adjustable idler pulley will be closest to the top of the engine. Position a metric socket onto the ratchet and loosen the bolt in the center of the serpentine belt idler pulley.

3. Now please loosen the push bolt on the side of the idler pulley. It is a 15mm size and the push bolt on the side of the tensioner is 13mm. Pull off the old belt.

4. Loosen the tensioner pulley for the AC belt. The same steps need to be followed for this as well.

5. Next slip the AC belt on the back of the crank pulley and route it as per the diagram under the hood.

6. Now you need to tighten up the idler pully and the push bolt until the belt play is within factory specifications, then tighten the hub bolt in the center of the pulley as well.

7. The same thing needs to be done for the serpentine belt as well. Just ensure that you tighten up the bolts and have the specified play in the belt. Check the belt tension by pushing inward on the belt.

8. Crank the vehicle for about 15-20 seconds. Then turn it off and again check the tension in the belt. Adjust as necessary. You need to have about half an inch of play in the belt.

If this doesn't work for you or in case you need any further assistance, please comment and let me know, and I will be happy to assist you to further resolve your issue.

I will appreciate your feedback and positive rating for this solution.
Thank you.

We have a 2001 chyrsler voyager we are trying to put a belt that turns the alternater and power steering pump and we don't know how to do it

Instructions Things You'll Need:
  • Wrench
    • 1 Study the exact path the drive belt follows across the pulleys and make sure you know it or write it down in a diagram.
    • 2 Loosen the drive belt tensioner by loosening its upper locking nut with a wrench, then slip the drive belt off the crankshaft pulley first and remove it from the others.
    • 3 Take the old drive belt with you to the auto parts store so you can use it to help get the correct length, width and design for the replacement belt.
    • 4 Install the replacement drive belt onto the pulleys, making sure it runs in the same path as the old one. Check and make sure the belt fits properly in each of the ribbed grooves within the pulleys.
    • 5 Adjust the drive belt tensioner until it gives the belt the proper tension and tighten the locking nut. On some engine types. the belt uses a dynamic tensioner that will automatically set and maintain the correct tension.
hope this can help you.

Need to replace alternator belt tension pulley on 1998 Chrysler Concorde. How do I get to it! it is a simple job but I can not get my hands in to it. What and how do I remove parts to get to it?

You must first loosen the bolt on the front of the belt tensioner then loosen the tensioner bolt behind the pulley it's a 2 step process. There should be a diagram on the front of the engine showing what parts are what. When you get it off it's the same process to put it back on tighten the back bolt first to tighten the slack then the front bolt holds it in place. real easy just need the right tools

Baught belt - need to know how to chane it

YOU HAVE WHATS CALLED A TENSIONER PULLEY IN FRONT OF ENGINE , ONE OF TWO PULLEYS THAT ARE SLICK (NO GROOVES). THE TENSIONER PULLEY IS WHAT YOUR AFTER. IT WILL BE ATTACHED TO A SLOTTED BRACKET WITH A BOLT HEAD DIRECTLY BEHIND IT.(LOOKING AT ENGINE FROM FRONT OF VEHICLE ITS USUALLY ON YOUR FAR RIGHT!) FIRST UNLOOSEN BOLT ON FRONT OF PULLEY ABOUT FIVE TURNS , THEN MOVE TO BOLT ON TOP BEHIND PULLEY , AND START UNLOOSENING IT TILL PROPER TENSION IS RELEASED TO SLIDE BELT OVER ALL PULLEYS(USE BELT DIAGRAM UNDER HOOD FOR PROPER INSTALLATION. ONCE BELT IS ON REVERSE STEPS 1 AND 2. TIGHTEN TOP BOLT BEHIND TENSION PULLEY TILL BELT HAS ABOUT A QUARTER INCH PLAY IN IT UP AND DOWN (DON'T OVER TIGHTEN).THEN TIGHTEN FRONT PULLEY BOLT TILL VERY SNUG.YOUR DONE! BELT MAY NEED RE-TIGHTENED AFTER DRIVING A FEW DAYS , BUT YOUR AN EXPERT NOW AND THAT WON'T BE A PROBLEM. HOPE THIS HELPED!
