If it shifts from 1st to 3rd gear also, then you need to have it rebuilt.
I lost reverse and 2nd gear in mine and I had it rebuilt.
Works great now and for the low price of only $1600,,,LOL

Will a 1990 chevy 1500 truck 4x4 transmission fit in a 1997 4x4 chevy tahoe

yes it will as long as it is the same model transmission. As long as you get a transmission out of a standard cab truck you should be ok. ( for a good idea Most 88-98 gm trucks, full size blazers, jimmys, tahoes, and yukons will interchange) same chassis just different bodys and emblems

I have a 1997 Blazer in need of a new 4 wheel drive transmission. What year Blazer, Jimmy, GMC, S10, have compatiable transmissions for my vehicle?

All of the ones listed and 98 will work too. The transfer case comes off the end of the tranny and the tailshft housing comes off the two wheel drive tranny and the transfer case bolts right on, So all the two wheel drive trannys will work too. 97 and 98. Others will work too but you can't just plug them righ in as some of the sensers and switches are different. The junkyard that your dealing with if their any good will tell more that'll work than this and the changes that'll make even more trannys fit.

Will a 2001 4.3 fit a 95 4.3 I have a 2001 Rolled s10 blazer w a 4.3 and an automatic trans will this fit and work in a 1995 s10 blazer that had a 4.3 and an automatic transmission

Yes it will but your going to have to also transplant the ECM. The change off years to the Blazers are 1992 to 1995 and interchangeable, 1995 being the odd ball year for the 4.3, and in 1996 to 2002 are all drive-train interchangeable. Good luck and keep me posted if you have any more questions.

It should work for you as long as there both 4L60E transmission, but take not there were a few changes to the transmission case and everything internal are the same. The key distinction of the Later 4L60-E (1997-2006) from the Early 4L60-E (1992-1997) or 4L60 (1990-1992) or 700R4 (1982-1989) is the six-bolt "hex" rear output or tailhousing / adapter pattern. The previous versions featured a four-bolt square bolt pattern at the adapter or tailhousing. Additionally, the removeable bellhousing is also another distinguishing feature. The Late 4L60-E transmission has a three piece case of cast aluminum alloy; bellhousing, main case, and tailhousing. GM shortened the package to 21.9" long - equivalent to a manual transmission of 15.4". Good luck and you should not have any problems swapping out the transmission.
