After purchase of an Xterra (my first Nissan product) the first thing I did was to go on ebay and acquire an owners manual and a Chilton/Haynes repair manual. Your Xterra may be new enough to be able to purchase at auto parts store or Walmart. The information is invaluable when it comes to minor to moderate repairs and maintenance.
It's located by oil filter,may have to remove filter to remove switch,may need a stubby(short) wrench to remove,may be able to turn tiresout to get to,it's a tight fit.Remove electrical connector,then get wrench and remove,then take to Autozone and match up with new one,here it is. No, there is a drain plug on the bottom of the drain pan, but you will have to take the pan down to replace the filter. Go here for step by step instructions.
clean the throttle body and change the maf. i had this problem hard to accelerate between 35 and 50 and would almost die when idling for a while changed mass airflow sensor cheaper on ebay 38 and i can of cleaner it too 2 cleaning after that it runs better now
