vibrations in first, or rev gear, and lessons as speed increases, check all ujionts on front and rear driveshafts, even front axle shaft ujionts, rear driveshaft is at max angle on these units, a bad ujiont will give clink sound, or sreech sound, make sure shafts are not bent. I assume there is no vibs in nuetral, engine running, also check all mounts. GOOD LUCK. RDJRP.
Get the clutch slave cylinder and master cylinder looked at.One of the 2 has failed. If the pedal goes to the floor or is very loose, this is very likely the cause. Not an expensive fix.Hope this helps
Either you have broken something inside the transfer case but equally likely is that you blew up the spider gears in the rear differential. I'd remove the cover and take a look. If they're broken, it won't be difficult to see.(smaller gears inside the center section) And, they are replacable Hope that's all it is! Good Luck!!!
It only does this first thing in the AM, and on cold start on 'way back home? What about weekends. If you drive multiple places does it ever do it then? Does it happen in one particular gear? If it does, what happens if you skip that gear (shift 1st to 3rd for example)? What do engine &trans mounts look like? If the temps in your area are very cold, you may try changing trans lube. I believe they use atf, not gear oil in your vehicle. Also, check the slip joint on your front driveshaft (check "u" joints as well...all of them) Sounds a lot like something is binding then freeing itself up till it sits for a while!
i just bought a used 97 CHEROKEE but i had the same problem, when i got to looking at it i found out the front driveshaft was shot, look at that, if its not it i would say its probably the transfer case especially with an older vehicle like that which is a very expenxive repair
Check your fluid levels, you need to verify that the transfer case has fluid in it. Also, on one of my old jeeps the lever that put it into 4 wheel drive just stuck a litle. After yanking the **** out of it and moving it back and forth, drive a litle then stop and do it all over again.. a few times. it went into 4 wheel drive. this is why you are suposed to engage your 4 wheel drive once a month and drive around the block, just to make sure it gets flid where its supose to. if it doesn't get engaged then the fluid just sits at the bottum of the transfer case and doesn't get up on the gears.
