Suzuki grand vitara 2008 Fule problem

Too HIGH Fuel consumption.
First off, mine gets 19 mpg no MATTER what ! BEST MPG.
car too heavy and enigine is too big, my 96' gets 28mpg 1.6L
15 gallons in 125miles, USA rate.sorry.
that be about 8mpg, 2 times, the normal rate.

Ever tune it up, try new spark plugs.
Does the CEL, check engine lamp come on driving,?
(SES) service engine soon?
if yes, why are you ignoring the lamp.?
does the lamp come on key on? if not its burned out,
did you connect an OBD2 scan tool to the DLC conn. and see
if all is well?
no? why not? stored DTCs? pending codes?
Is the CEL flashing, (this means , raw fuel is hitting the CAT)

bad MPG can be
1: leaking or stuck injector (x6)
2: ECU in limphome driver ignoring CEL lamp.
3: too heavy right foot, but 8mpg is hard to do...that way.
4: towing a heavy load, up the rocky mountains?
5: fuel pressure failure, at 60psi, (2 possible ways. ask)
6: bad sensors for EFI.
7: can name 50 more. so stop

ask your mechanic to find it. it takes tools and know how.

Grand vitara stalls when cold and runs fast when warm

This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve but always run a OBD2 fault code as well as the cleaning procedure. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control

I have a grand vitara 2ltr manual , when the car has been running a while and is hot the gear changing seems to get stiff and harder to change gear could you please advise as to what the problem might...

Hi Maria.

If you have the manual shift then it is usually the transmission fluid in need of replacement. The transmission fluid is probably dark brown and must be replaced. If replacing fluid does not help, then it is usually a defective transmission.

Regards.

There is no way of changing 2 press into 1 press. For unlocking all doors - press the remote 2 times.

Stiff gears

You can try using synthetic gear lube, I have found it reduces shift effort by at least half when it is cold.
