Where can I access the fuel pump wire to check that it has power? What color am I looking for? 2007 SR5 5.7L double cab w/8 foot bed.

Open in the wire from relay to fuel pump ? Test for continuity on the wire . GM Fuel Pump Relay Testing

it may be the auto shutoff relay has bad contacts in it.. may need it replaced.. bad comes to worse would you consider a bed mounted tank? sits behind the cab/

siphon gas out drop the tank undo the harness twist the retaining ring pull pump. install in reverse.

probably be easier to just pull the truck bed off. usually requires unbolting 4-8 bolts holding bed on from inside the floor of bed. unhooking wiring harnwess and unhooking gas tank filler neck from hose leading to tank. you will need help of at least 3 others to pull the bed unless you devise a lift or a stand for your bed to sit on. think of it like a semi truck unhooking from a trailer. bed stays put truck moves forward. replace pump and back up under the bed and reattach. good luck

Same problem here, found break in wiring harness at cross-member behind cab. did have bed removed for easy access. Ground wire guilty party.

you didnt tell what code is assuming evap large leak and that the fuel pump -evap connection is culprit --fuel pump $200+ drop fuel; tank and replace pump 200 is reasonable go get another estimate from someone else and to do yourself buy a repair manual about 25 for chilton / haynes and see if your capable of dropping an approximate 6 foot fuel tank

The fuel pump is elelctic and it is located inside the fuel tank, the fuel tank must be removed to service the fuel pump.

NEVER HEARD OF IT IF YOU HAVEN,T DROPPED TANK YET DON,T IT,S MUCH EASIER TO REMOVE BED BOLTS DISCONNECT WIRING HARNESS AT REAR TO LIGHTS ONE GROUND WIRE TO FRAME AT DRIVERS SIDE REAR OPEN FUEL DOOR TAKE OUT THE FEW SCREWS THAT HOLD FILLER NECK HAVE SOME BUDDIES HELP LIFT BED UP WALK BACK TWO FOOT OR SO LET BED SIT RIGHT ON TOP OF TIRE AND BUMPER IT WILL SIT THERE FINE LOOK AT BACK OF CAB AND YOU,RE LOOKING AT FUEL PUMP THEIR IS A TANK PRESSURE SENSOR ON SOME RIGHT IN TOP OF PUMP HOUSING IT,S THE SMALL BLACK SENSOR HOPE THIS HELPS WE DO ALL THE TIME AT WORK TO US IT,S EASIER THAN LIFTING UP OR CRAWLING UNDER TRUCK WHEN YOU GET TO MESSING WITH THOSE CONNECTORS AND FUEL LINES YOU WILL APPRECIATE BEING ABLE TO STAND UP AND DO WITH GOOD LIGHT MAKES A NICE JOB

The fuel pump is in the gas tank, the best way to do this is to get some friends and remove the bed from the frame. There is i believe 8 bolts that hold the bed to the frame, and don't forget to remove the hardware to the gas tank filler neck. Once the bed is off the frame, you can get to the fuel tank. Disconnect the wire harness and might as well replace the harness since there only $12.00 last i looked, disconnect the fuel line and return line. Remove the fuel pump retainer ring and lift up on the fuel pump sending unit. To install replace the rubber O ring and oil it before installing the new fuel pump sending unit. Install the fuel sending unit retaining ring, gas lines, new wire harness, and filler tube. Good lime also to check the hose to the EVAP since you can inspect them, look for any dry rot to the vacuum lines and replace if needed. Reinstall the bed and use lock tight to the bed bolts or replace them with stainless bolts. Good luck and hope this helps, oh and you might as well change the fuel filter while your have the bed off. The other way is to drop the gas tank which means draining the tank and raising the truck. 

The fuel pump safety switch is located in the cab on the toe board to the right of the transmission hump. Also check the fuel relay, it's under the hood with the other relays by the big fuses. Get a Chilton book.
