Does your cigarette lighter work? The fuse may be blown. In a lot of cars the ECU and cigarette lighter are on the same fuse. If the fuse is blown CarMD may not be able to communicate with the vehicle.
pull fuses and use a test light. if test light is dem on any fuse socket there is a short that is draining it. and there should only be a few that are hot when ignition is off. u can also try pulling these bulbs from glovebox cigarette lighter tray truck and under hood. and leave it sit like normal and if it battery keeps getting drained then theres your solution. also sometime alternator can have a short causing it but u can hear a low pitch whine coming from it when hood is open, hope this helps good luck
The fuse for these items is the second one down in the right hand row in the fusebox down by the driver's feet. Swap the fuse with another one to check.
Yeah... find the SHORT! Go to http://www.hmaservice.com/ and register (vehicle by VIN). Afterward, you'll have access to technical information (manuals, wiring diagrams, service bulletins, etc) about your vehicle.
There's one under the hood, on the right side... labeled Fuse Box and then there's another on the left side of the steering wheel, near the signals, behind the little fold out compartment (which you have to take out to get at the fuses)
the fuse for the cigarette lighter is located in the fuse box under the hood. It is a 20 Amp (yellow fuse) in position #32. You can check the lid of the fuse box under the hood for a diagram to show the positions.
