SOURCE: 2000 Dodge Caravan wont start
sounds like engine is hydrolocked (cylinders full of water)
not good
SOURCE: 2000 caravan 3.0 stall after 20 min no spark restarts few hours later
This sounds like a bad (probably cracked) ignition coil.
First, the coil gets hot when operating, and this is normal.
If it is cracked, it gets hot to the point where its resistance gets so much higher that it cannot provide enough voltage for spark.
When it cools back down it starts working fine again.
SOURCE: 97 Dodge Caravan Auto-Shutdown Problem
Been working on my dad's 97 Caravan longer then i can remember for things you mentioned and have been not able to get him to sell it.
I found that the electrical connections are prone to corrosion and have replaced lots of the wire and pin connection in the wire harness, thank god i have time on my hands.
The instrument panel where the wire harness connects, i found that the solder goes bad and i had to re solder the connector on the back side of the circuit board, where the harness goes so you need to remove the instrument panel from the dash,
Here is a link that can help you retrieve DTC codes and do research on your caravan. I'ld tell you everything what i needed to do to keep my dad's caravan running but that would be a novel.

Good luck and keep me posted, glad to help you keep yours running too.
SOURCE: dodge 1996 caravan/engine starts then abruptly shuts off
I would check the iac(idle air control valve) first it controls the idle, and then if it is still acting up you may have to change the crank/cam position sensor
SOURCE: i have a Dodge Grand Caravan 1996 model it stalls,
I had the same problem I think I have fixed it it seemed to be the air filter as you go down the road you are is restricted and when you come to stop the motor dies from to much gas give it a try only an $12.00 fix
