91 Acclaim does not downshift to 1st at stop.

After stopping car starts out in second gear. If you floor it for even an instant it will downshift to 1st and continue normally, or if you manually shift to 1st it will work. I believe there used to be a fix for this involving a helper spring and one of the valves. Does anyone remember this.

SOURCE: transmission problem

it is not a main computer problem but the transmission control module. the engine speed sensor sends a signal to the main computer(ECM) which then in turn sends the signal to the trans mission control module. the cost of this can be pretty steep if you go to a dealership, however if you go to a local parts place like Napa the cost will be half. one last thing to check is to have a diagnostic scan tool hooked up this will tell you what codes are showing and i'm sure there are some. ythey will clear the codes for you. also if a solenoid inside the trans mission is the problem and sometimes they are because of gummed up fluid they can replace it for even less.. hope this helps...please rate this thanks

SOURCE: automatic 3 speed transmission wont shift out of first gear

that is what they consider safe mode for those transmissions, they are a very smart electronic transmission it does that so you dont ruin the trans.
It has detected a problem and you must take it to a tech and have the codes pulled, could be as simple as a sensor or solenoid pack

SOURCE: 1999 Grand Voyager transmission not shifting into high gear

Do yourself a favor & get it scanned at transmission shop, or dealer & fixed as needed,(within reason) . Delaying it could cost lots of money. A rebuilt is about $1500-$2000.

SOURCE: 94 Plymouth acclaim speedometer and dash lights wont work

Try replacing light bulbs and flasher which may correct the turn signals. Check all fuses, however as for the speedometer, the plastic clogs or wheels have run their course, If you intend to replace these, suggest you purchase a repair manual for your vehicle.

Transmission does not downshift to 1st at a stop in D but manually selecting 1st works

It sounds like you are having an issue with your transmission not downshifting to first gear when you come to a stop. This can be caused by a variety of factors, including a problem with the transmission control module, a malfunctioning shift solenoid, or a problem with the transmission itself.
Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check the transmission fluid level and condition. If the fluid is low or dirty, it could be causing the transmission to malfunction.
  2. Check the transmission control module for any stored trouble codes. These codes can provide valuable information about the root cause of the problem.
  3. Inspect the shift solenoids for any visible damage or debris. If the solenoids are damaged or clogged, they may not be functioning properly.
  4. If none of these suggestions resolve the issue, it may be necessary to have a professional mechanic diagnose and repair the problem. They will have the necessary tools and expertise to properly diagnose and fix the issue with your transmission.

1997 Toyota 4runner manual transmission - Just had clutch replaced - will not downshift into 1st gear unless car is going less than 5 mph -

that simply means your clutch is no longer slipping and its functioning properly first is for taking off so if you are still rolling second is the go to your brakes do the work of stopping you under 5 miles per hour no need to down shift at that speed

2008 Hyundai Accent problems

first, what is the condition and level of the tranny fluid ? compare with new one please. if not the same by far in clour or odor, get the transmission filter and oil changed. while the pan is off, look in it to see if there is metal in it. if so, your torque converter may need to be change. a little greyish residue at the bottom is normal but if the magnet is full and also the, you got a problem. you may need to rebuild it or replace it.

I have a problem with my gear box i have a jeep grand cherokee

Your transmission apparently is not downshifting properly. From your description, it sounds as though it is in 2nd or 3rd gear, which is why it is slow to accelerate. When you shift into 1st, it is starting off in 1st gear as it should. You probably should have a transmission shop check it out. Check engine light on?

2000 Chevy Metro New Clutch and now can't shift into 1st Gear

With ALL due respect, I speak from a 30 year Career of AUTO & Heavy Truck Experence of Fleet Management and Personal Customer Auto Care, and by NO means do I mean any Disrespect to you here.
As Long as is Does Not grind while UP SHIFTING you R fine , DOWNSHIFTING into 1st Gear BEFORE 20 mph is a Disaster Waiting to Happen EXAMPLE> Just BECAUSE a car CAN run at 120mph does not Mean One SHOULD do it. If it downshifted to 1st gear before 20 mph with OTHER Clutch that was due to WEAR, there MAY be a bit of AIR in the Release bearing or Slave cylinder, That needs to be BLED OUT, DOWNSHIFTING IS NOT A recommended Practice Unless its an EMERGENCY STOP condition, as It Causes Premature Wear on Clutch Disc. I Know this MAY seem UNTRUE as you may have done it for years But IN FACT A Clutch is MADE to Simply Get From LOWER GEAR TO HIGHER GEAR, but if you Downshift ALL of the time you WILL Subject the Clutch to TWICE the WEAR you Should THUS WEARING it OUT TWICE AS FAST $ thats $$$$. A good number of shops wont Advise you this Far as it Would REDUCE THERE Profit. I Hope I Have shed some Light on this delima, And Think of the MONEY you Can SAVE on TWICE the Longevity with 1 Clutch Job. Again I hope this Helps you, And If you FEEL that I Deserve A GOOD RATING Please do so ,as Most folks get there Answers and GO without Rating US LoL Thank You !
