Old swift, in usa? what engine?
lots of engines used on swifts world wide, huge list.
sounds like cranks robustly but will not start nor run.
id say the cam belt slipped or snapped
there are 3 fast checks
1: rotor in distrib dont turn, (belt snap)
2: spark timing way off. (strobe light tests, spark timing light)
3: compression falls on all cyl, from say 170psi to 80. ops
or worse..
here is the non usa line up, (drive trains)
your generation.
1.0 L G10 (LP2) I3
1.0 L G10T (LS3) turbo I3
1.3 L G13A/BA (L72) 8V I4
1.3 L G13B/G13K 16V DOHC I4
1.5 L G15A 16V I4
1.6 L G16 16V I4
ours is called the Chevrolet sprint.
and the suzuki swift, that year.
G13b DOHC engine.
the G13a (8v or 16) is belt drive.
the G13b twin cam is a special high output engine 100hp.
G13a, 13b, 13ba and 13bb.(98')
there are 5, G13 engine used here in usa. for suz.
most are free running, non interference but the
DOHC is interference. (and then in 98 not)
that means in clear English is if you let this engines belt snap or slip the valves get bent.
it uses a GATES T171
belt.
the g13s are the most complex topic,
show a photo of your engine, top.
the left rear of engine bell flang the serial
is like G13bnnnnnnnn this tells you what's there.
