Bought a 1999 ford ranger 4x4, 3.0 liter v-6 Flex Fuel vin letter V, back in February .... I drove it less than 200 miles and the engine blew ....... Here it is now, December, and I just had the engine replaced with a great used engine, .... but the check engine light does not light up, for the emissions test, ... the engine is running exceptionally well. .... I changed the check engine bulb, and I have power at the bulb ... and if I touch the bulb with the test light and ground it ... the check enging light-bulb, lights-up. ... So I want to check to see if the check engine light wire, is OPEN somewhere, because I Think that the creepy people that I bought the vehicle, somehow may have rigged the thing, so that the light would not light-up, and I can't find the pin-diagram, for this vehicle... and cant find it in the oin-line manual .... I am suspicious that the wrong wiring harness, is possibly installed, .... all I have been able to find on google images, are 4.o ranger PCM wiring diagrams, and can not find any for this 99 3.0 flex fuel vin number V..... everything that I have looked at shows a diferent color wire than I have on this one,... running to the check-engine-light, .... the 4.0 shows a pink with light green wire, for the check engine light... My 3.0 going from top left to right, has a seemingly, light-green / white wire, ... then next to the right, is a red / dark blue wire, the next is a white wire, to the right of that one ... The engine was swapped just before I bought this truck, and I am just trying to figure out, what these idiots did, with this engine and/or wiring-harness

I had the same problem with my 2002 Silverado last summer when I first bought my boat and was getting the trailer ready to go. Like an idiot, I rewired the boat trailer on that side before I decided to look at the owner's manual. The pickup has separate fuses for right and left side of trailer. They're located in the big box in the engine compartment. I replaced the 10 or 15 size fuse and haven't had a problem since. Hope this helps!
