Linkage problem . Access the motor and see if the linkage came off . Watch this video , may help you out . I know it's not a saturn ,still a GM vehicle . Pontiac G6 Wiper Fix and other GM cars
Sometimes disconnecting the battery does more damage then you want it might have trip a fuse or relay check those if thats not it, maybe wiper motor or transmission went out.
i dont think the ion was made in 2000, they started making them in 2003, heres a diagram of a 2003 ion fuse box and the wiper fuse location.hope this helps,
At the end of the wiper arm where it attaches there will be a plastic cap over a nut.Remove the plastic cap and remove the nut and you will be able to remove the wiper arm.I hope this helped.
Their is a solution to the common saturn ion windsheild wiper problems. A new improved version of the wiper linkage is available and it has aluminum pivots instead of plastic. The plastic pivots were the weekest point of that linkage. I bought one oat this link and put it in myself. Awesome product
