ANgie.
"As in not move." Id like to buy a noun from you, what is the implied IT here.
is it the car will not move
or the shifter lever is stuck. (brake lights dead? on rear?)
if the lever moves, and then you try
DRIVE< low and reverse????????????????
what do the ALL DO. (car moving wise)?

the transmission is electronically shifted.
the power button changes shift patterns.
here are the steps, (over 1000 steps on A/t work so ill skip a few)
1: check fuses.
2: scan the PCM this tells you what the TCM brain sees
the TCM is the transmission control module (regardless of its location)
the TCM has errors, if it does then we work from there.
3: make sure all shift linkages are ok, (inspections with eyes and hands)
lacking answers to the above, makes clear causes, impossible.

Q1 is shift'er lever stuck?
Q2, if no to the above, what gears work, PRNDL?
R fail, D fail and L fail?

1999 isuzu rodeo=auto transmission

Those run through the floor. You will have to remove part of the shifter console to get to the cable. It has removeable fork clips that release the cable from the floor shifter. The tranny has those same clips that run to the transmission parking pawl(an arm off the side of the tranny that allows the tranny to be shifted). This is not easy to do and you will need patience.

Transmission shift hard in 2'nd to 3'rd gear on a automanic transmission on a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo

Hello
The Engine and Automatic Transmission (not applicable to manual transmissions) in this vehicles drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM and TCM (Power Train Control Module, Transmission Control Module). When a problem like this or other drive-ability related problems occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. Also always check fuel pressure for correct spec for your make and engine type.

My 1999 Isuzu Rodeo is jumping with gear changes; enough that the antilock brake system is coming on when I am braking. Any ideas? Does this mean I need a whole new transmission or would a transmission...

Had the same problem when I bought a used 1999 Rodeo. The dealer fixed it for me @ N/C. The problem was the shift selector switch was defective. I was sure the transmission was toast! Has worked fine ever since.

1999 isuzu rodeo slow to shift. Engine revs very high before it will shift.

There is a cable that goes from the throttle body to the transmission. usually by the throttle body you can adjust the cables lenghth by pushing in the tab. only move this a couple of notches at a time, test drive and see where it shifts. adjust as necessary. 1st gear should be at 15 to 20, 2nd at 30. Let me know if this works for you , we can go from there.

Wont start starter just makes a click when you turn key also the rodeo shifter moves without putting on brake

possibly shift interlock system needs adjustment or replaced .this is a connection between transmission and ignition key lock cylinder . which is why youre able to shift w/o applying brakes and wont start. try to start n neutral.
