2001bmw x5 shut off while drivin

Check crankshaft sensor and cam sensor,check fuel filter.

Have the injectors checked out .The fault codes will show up on a diagnostic computer.

Yes, most likely you need a battery in the key fob. No, you don't need to go to the dealer. Most any parts place will have the battery, and should even help you install it.

Check the oil, make sure it`s black, then take the raditor cap off & see if you can smell any exaust from it while it`s running & let me know.

Hey Chuck, run a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in a full tank of gas and see if that takes care of the problem.

a bad alternator wont shut off a car it sounds like a coil pack iginition problem...or bad fuel pump... u need to have a spark test an a fuel pressure test done at a qualified service station

I have had this issue before when all parts seem to work. lay down in back seat and put a blanket over door panel where the latch holds the door shut and kick with your legs to force door loose. you still have to have someone hold the door handle in the open position. let me know if that helps

did you check fuel filter ?? and or fuel pressure
