Hi there is no fuel filter on the 2012 Chevrolet equinox , the only filtration is in the fuel tank as part of the fuel pump assembly and is not serviced

No serviceable filter is used on this model.
GM stopped using fuel filters on most models in 2005.

2008 Chevy Equinox has a non serviceable fuel filter in the fuel tank. it is changed if the fuel pump quits working.

Its the same for both types of Equinox.
The short story: the fuel filter is an integral part of the fuel pump, and 06 Equinox has 2 fuel pumps (each presumably with its own filter), due to the odd shape of its fuel tank.
Note: the last time I thought I had a car whose owner thought it was a fuel pump/fuel strainer/fuel filter promplem turned out to have a bad spark plug wire - it caused identical symptoms (engine missing alot, especially going uphill).

this vehicle does not have a fuel filter

It is located underneath the hood on the passenger side, underneath the plastic vent cover, just below the Windshield. Pretty easy to change yourself. The filters tend to get pretty dirty pretty Fast on the Equinox
