I have a 01 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 97 transmission. What does the rear transmission 3 prong port control on 97 transmission? Overdrive?

SOURCE: transmission does not always shift into overdrive

Governor pressure sensor or solenoid is going bad. To replace them drop the tranny pan, remove the filter , and the parts are pretty ez to get to. These aren't cheep thou, but replace them as a set. Parts will probly run about $200.

I had the same code on my 2001 dodge 2500. The truck wouldn't shift from 3-4. I pulled the trans pan off and replaced a broken spring ($2.00). It is behind a thin plate with 3-4 small torq screws. You don't have to remove the valvebody. Only took me 45 minutes to fix.

You will likely have to pull axle so you will next recommended gear lube for differential before you start

Have you replaced the transmission filter and fluid yet,
if your transmission works ok until it heats up,your transmission external cooler may be plugging up getting the transmission fluid to hot and not cooling it at all.It is located in front of your A/C and radiator.you can replace it with an after market one or have it flushed.
and you might want to put in an additive for the transmission made my Lucas.

My 95 Cummins Dodge had the same problem and adding "Lucas Transmissiion Fix" cured it completely and permanently.

1995 dodge 4x4 1500 ram speedometer quit working , won't go into overdrive , the 4 wheel drive will not en gauge , I have replace the speed sensor on the rear end and replace the speed sensor on the t

The sensor in the differential is for the ABS. Did you replace the sensor for the speedometer in the end of the transmission?
And is the check engine light on ?

Ignition, will not start, no spark att all... The camshaft provider tested its ok, seems to be no electricity going To the provider...

The 1993 Dodge transmissions could be found in the Caravan, Colt, Dakota, Daytona, Dynast, Intrepid, Ran Van, Ram Wagon, Ram Charger, Shadow, Spirit, Stealth, Viper and W150. Each had a unique array of transmissions best suited for the model's design.
In 1993, the Dodge transmissions varied between 3- and 6-speeds. A 3-speed automatic transmission was available, and there was a variant that included overdrive. The only other automatic transmission included 4-speeds. A 5-speed manual gearbox found its way into several of the 1993 Dodge models, and a 6-speed manual was equipped in the Viper.
The number of speeds and style of transmission may have looked the same on paper, but it did not mean they were all the same. An automatic transmission in a passenger sedan could be geared drastically different from one in a truck. Transmissions may have the same number of speeds, but they may not be geared identically.
Transmissions were used in the 1993 Dodge to effectively transfer power from the engine to the wheels of the vehicle. The power could be passed to the front or rear wheels. Models equipped with all- and four-wheel-drive had power at all four-wheels.
