If it clicks, then it is getting power from the switch to the starter solenoiod. So if you know the battery is fully charged, then the problem is either one of the battery cables or connections, or the starter itself is defective.`.

Battery good, no power to starter

Hi. Have you tested the neutral safety switch? With the gear selector in Neutral, try to start the engine. Have you looked at all the fuses? Don't just look at the fuse for the starter. Next. Test the starter. Make sure the starter is well grounded to the engine block and that the main power cable is tight and free of corrosion and damage. A second person is needed. With a friend in the car, and a test light hooked up to ground. Have your friend hold the key in the start position. At the same time you will have the test light making good contact with the starter trigger terminal. Does the light eliminate while the key is in the start position? If it does then the starter is bad. If not, there is something preventing the starter from powering up. Examples: Starter relay, antitheft system, ignition switch, fuses, relays, modules and wiring. You will need to take your time and test and examine as much as you can. Sometimes the problem is a quick and easy fix but sometimes it takes a while to figure out. Let me know how things are going. Please write back with updates or questions. Good Luck.

2003 Chevy Malibu has brand new starter.Battery is good.Anti theft n ot flashing.Just doesn't crank.Could it be starter relay?

Could be the starter relay but , could also be the park neutral safety switch , test by moving the gear selector to neutral . If it starts then more then likely the PNP switch is bad . Viewing wiring diagrams to see what all is involved in starter operation . Reading factory service info. for starter operation would be good too . The engine computer (PCM/ECM) probably energizes the starter relay . Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free-tsb Enter vehicle info. year , make , model an engine . Under system click on engine , then under subsystem click on starting . Click the search button , then the blue link . Looking at the wiring diagram it just so happens there is no starter relay . Ignition switch sends battery voltage through the PNP directly to the starter solenoid . Could be the main battery cable , voltage drop testing will show if that is the problem .

My 1991 ford escort won't turn over. Fully charged battery. any ideas?

There is no relay involved in the starter circuit of this vehicle . The micro switch you are talking about at the shifter has nothing to do with the starting circuiIt either . If you have a automatic transmission There is on the transmission the park neutral safety switch . Won't allow the vehicle to start unless the transmission is in park or neutral . Ford calls the switch manual lever position switch . Try moving the shift lever to netual to see if it starts .

98 explorer quit starting. I can turn the key and there is power to everything but when you try to start, nothing. No clicks, no sounds, nothing. Its like it it sends no power to the starter. Like when you...

It could just be your starter... Check for power at the battery cable AT the starter then check if the small wire that also connects to the starter gets power when you crank it. If so it's most likely your starter.

My truck will not go into gear from Park position.

In the early 90's, a safety feature was added to keep people from shifting out of park without having their brakes on. This feature runs through the brake lights (in Fords, at least.) I would bet your brake lights don't work, and if they don't then that would be why you're stuck in Park

77 ford f 250 400ci not start no power at dash check silinode relay have power on i and s sides and on the starter side, ignotion has power to but nothing

I would strongly suggest checking all the battery cables and terminals for good clean connections. Then I would suggest trying to move the gear selector from park to neutral or just back and forth while trying to start. If you get a click or it starts it's likely that you have a bad neutral safety switch.
If this doesn't work ensure the vehicle is in park with the wheels chalked and us a remote starter button, or just jump the solenoid to see if the starter functions.
