If the check engine light is on instead of won't to check the transmission fluid , have it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . More then likely TCC clutch solenoid problem . Take it an have it check .

How do i check the transmission fluid in my 2007 saturn ion level 3 2.4 coupe

There is a RED color coded dipstick under the hood. The fluid is correct when level is in the crosshatch mark on the dipstick, while the engine is running at operating temperature. Use Dextron II fluid.

Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) checking:
1. Requirements for check:
1.1. Vehicle standing on level surface.
1.2. Transmission must not be in fail-safe mode.
1.3. Shift lever in "P" position, parking brake applied.
1.4. Engine idling.
1.5. Air Conditioner and heater OFF.
1.6. ATF temperature must not exceed 104 Fahrenheit degree (40 Celsius degree) at start of test.
1.7. Automatic gearbox oil capacity: 2,5 liter. Only ATF with VW designation may be used. Do not use any lubricant additives.
1.8. Automatic Transmission Fluid ATF - part number: VW G 052 990 A2
1.9. An ATF level check when transmission oil temperature is too low results in overfilling, when too high results in underfilling.
2. CAUTION: Too much or too little ATF will affect the operation of the transmission. The ATF level must be checked at regular intervals.

What transmission fluid type for a 2005 saturn ion? and how many quarts?

DEXRON® VI Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF)

The transmission in 05 that one has a filter and takes close to 7 quarts. It has a level hole, no dipstick. You fill it idling in park till it just starts to come out of the level hole.

99 Hyundai Automatic hesitates to move & check-engine light just

It is most probably your knock sensor that activated the check engine light.
1.By start off, I presume it means to take off in gear (the vehicle moving).
Start the vehicle and let it idle for about a minute, then with the engine still running pull out the dipstick for the transmission and check your oil level. notice the correct oil level is obtained by looking at the dipstick angled down and follow the solid oil mark from the bottom on the stick to where it is only partially covered in oil, this is your mark.
If it is not on the min. mark or the lowest mark at-least, your ATF oil is way to low and that is why it is taking a long time to start off and seems to be jerking.
2. If the above is not your problem, ask your self when last was my vehicle serviced, spark plugs ect.

could be a vacuum leak. When rpms are up, it has enough vac to operate properly. Check all vacuum hoses and make sure they are all on, and look for splits or cracks in the hoses
