Sounds like the brakeswitch you are pressing by hand is not in the proper position. What often happens is your feet knock off the switch and the safety setup locks the gearshift because you are suppose to have your foot on the brake before you can shift out of gear. Can not comment on traction light.

Check your brake lights, if they are not working then the shift will not unlock.

check to make sure that all the the bulbs in the rear are working, even the third light

You need to have the abs system scanned for codes. You likely have a bad wheel speed sensor on one of wheels.

sound's like you just need to replace the brake pad's when they get to low the sensor will come on.

There is a switch under your break padal, which is responsible for tail lights and gear lock. if that switch is working fine and your tail lights are working fine then check the electronic lock of gear which is under the cover of gear.
... If you turn the system off by moving the shift lever
to FIRST (1) or SECOND (2), the warning light will
come on and stay on. To turn the system back on,
move the shift lever back to a position other than
FIRST (1) or SECOND (2). The warning light
should go off. (See "Enhanced Traction System"
in the Index for more information.)
The warning light will come on when you set your
parking brake with the engine running, and it will
stay on if your parking brake doesn't release fully.
If the transaxle shift lever is in any position other
than FIRST (1) or SECOND (2) and the warning
light stays on after your parking brake is fully
released, it means there's a problem with the system.
If the traction control system is affected by an
engine-related problem, the system will turn off
and the warning light will come on.
If the Enhanced Traction System warning light comes
on and stays on for an extended period of time when the
transaxle shift lever is in any position other than FIRST
(1) or SECOND (2) your vehicle needs service.
