I quest if the dealer have no solution then you have to do the wiring your self but be sure your wiring is direct to the fuse holder which label spare this is to sucure your care from burning.
Use 10-15 amps remember that the negative is not so important but the positive is very important to be covered with high insulation rubber covers.
If the front light is on from the driver switch then just tap + Positive (RED) wire and run it to the rear red wire as I have mention before you can use the chassis as ground(-) (BLACK).

I have a 1998 Chevy Malibu, and the entire right tail light assembly is out. Is this likely to be a fuse issue, or a wiring issue?

Pull the connector from the back , test signals going into the tail light assembly , if good you need a new tail light assembly . No it's not a fuse issue . The brake light's ,turn signals , park lamps all have thier own power supply - different fuse's . Do you know how to test automotive electrical circuits with a volt meter ? How to use a wiring diagram so you know what your testing ? Here is a web site for free wiring diagrams http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year , make , model an engine ! Under system click on lighting ,then under subsystem click on tail lamps . Click the search button then the blue link. Check the ground circuit (pin E ) grounds get corroded .

Brake lights work. Why don't tail lights and tag light?

Does the front park lights work and does the vehicle have Daytime Running Lights? If it doesn't have DRL make sure fuse 53 (10A) is good and has power. The stop lamps and tail lamps use the same B61 ground. The ground should be ok. If the fuse is good and has power then there is a possibility there is an open in the circuit between the fuse and the E117 connector or a disconnect at the connector. If it does have DRL it is possible the DRL relay does not have power (fuse 59 in the IPDM 10A) or it is faulty or the IPDM is not grounding it.

Tail light not working. Signal light, brake, and flasher works.

Double check the harness going to the tail lights for burned wires due to daytime running lights and check the bulb socket for signs of burned contacts. Clean the contacts with small flat file then try the new bulbs again. Also, check the eltrical flow to the bulbs (ground and positive flow). After elimating no issues with wires or contacts and and problem with flow test the fuse then check the actual headlight switch assembly. Hope all this info helps, sorry I am out of order on a lot of it.

99 mercury mystide had rear running light broken

If the driver's side tail light is working, it's not a fuse. Use a test light to check for power at the bulb holder. One terminal will be for tail light, the other for brake/turn light. If the is constant power for tail light, replace bulb. If no power, trace wiring from bulb holder to driver's side junction. Probable broken wire between the two tail lights.

Tail lights and brake lights not working - not fuse - what can it be?

Brake light switch, located on upper brake pedal should be checked, that is most likely your brake light issue, but U say tail lights aren't working, but running lights do, tail lights and running lights I would consider to be the same, so can u clarify that for me? Let me know how the u do w/ brake light switch, and if u have issue w/ tail lights?
