A distributor cap is just a cap
the pickup is in the distributor
can you not simply swap distributors

Testimonial: "well the one to my old 85 it dont set right with timing its a lil off i got it goog enough to get smogged but i dont like it i had the other distibator that was already in the 95 engine and it ran well so i started to switch them but incountered an issue the one to my truck the ignition it part of the distribatorand the one to the 95 they are sepparated. ignition thing it mounted to engine."

it is the igniter that is attached to the engine while the exciter is part of the distributor
The distributor cap --which was your first comment should be the same as all it does is clip on the distributor and distribute the spark to the correct plugs in the firing order

If I'm not mistaken, there should be a plastic cap on each side of the wheel. Remove caps, and there should be a 7 to 10 mm bolt on each side

1992 GMC Sierra that has failed smog test twice. The motor is not burning gas, the gas is going straight through.

Has your check engine light come on? If so, have the code read and deciphered. When you say "the gas is going straight through", do you mean that there is raw fuel coming out the exhaust pipe? If no codes are present, you should start with a tuneup - plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, points or inductive pickup, fuel and air filters. If the fuel isn't being burned, you have some kind of ignition failure, AND raw gas in the exhaust will fail the hydrocarbon test in a heartbeat. Original exhaust system? Including catalytic converter(s)? If so, converters are probably trashed by now. Good luck.

85 Dodge Pickup....383 V8 can i replace the crankshaft without pulling the heads?

yes but this is gonna be alot of work no matter how you do it, you will neeed to remove your oil pan, then remove rod bearing caps, and then the main bearing caps, and also remember about your flywheel that bolts to the back of the crankshaft, so you will have to remove the transmission also,
