Remote will not start when it is cold out but will start if you start with key first and let engine warm up then shut engine off with key . then a little while later, hit the start button on the remote, engine starts ,next day remote starter will not start tried lock button 2 times then start button still no start i have 2 remotes that came with truck and I replaced both batterys with new ones still same problem.
It may be the Security module. The "cold start" routine is necessary to make the engine run cold. When you are already inside the vehicle and turning the ignition switch it is not using the "wireless" feature of the FOB's. The ignition switch is hard wired to the vehicle module and would be sending the signal through a wired connection. For the warm start, the "cold start" sequence is not needed and all this proves is you have spark and fuel. Many engines are running too lean to start without the "cold start" sequence. Another remote possibility is a stuck temperature sensor is keeping the cold start off, but that does not explain the truck starting with a key.

you need to take it to the dealer and have them check the bcm for codes.... also have them check to be sure you have the latest software in the bcm.. its possible that you just need a software update... there are several TSB's covering the concern you have..... it can be a very simple fix with software or even a stuck lock switch may need to be replaced... without the proper diagnostic codes being read from the bcm all that can be done is guessing..and that can be expensive...

depending on your alarm which it sounds like a viper model maybe? on my 02 you have to incorporate a factory alarm bypass module in order to be able to start the truck, they run about 100.00 bucks and have to be profssionally installed. The truck wont start because the computer isnt recieving the proper starting sequence due to the factory alarm

2003-04 Mazda 6 REMOTE PROGRAMMING
Step 1: Open drivers door and leave open.
Step 2: Lock and unlock the driver’s door using the power door lock switch on the door.
Step 3: Insert key into the ignition.
Step 4: Turn key to on position and return to off position. (IMPORTANT - use ON position NOT ACC position). Do this 3 times within 10 seconds. Leave key in the ignition.
Step 5: Open and close the driver’s door 3 times. (Door should be left open after this step).
Step 6: ECU should respond by locking and unlocking the doors.
Step 7: Press any button on remote #1 twice. ECU responds by locking and unlocking the car doors.
Step 8: Press any button on remote #2 (etc.) twice. Each time the ECU will respond by locking & unlocking the doors.
Step 9: Remove the key from the ignition and the ECU will respond a final time with a series of door locks and unlocks. You're done!
Good Luck.
