There is an easier way to retreive radio serial numbers. On most Honda/Acura vehicles simply turn the radio off, press hold the 1 & 6 keys while turning on the radio. Two 4 didgit numbers will apear on the screen. Write them down and call your local dealer, ask for the parts department. For navigatioin units you need the code from the DVD ROM drive. These are usually found either in the trunk under the rear deck or under the passenger seat. Usually a few small screen and you can pull the unit out. Grab the serial number and call your dealer. I've had a few vehicles that I've been able to reach under the seat with my phone and grab a picture of the lable without removing the unit.
I had the same problem when I had my battery replaced.
I guess the mechanic tried to enter the code.... and after 10 tries he failed of course, and the system locked itself and gave the ERROR message.
All you need to do is leave the system on for an hour (Yes, leave it on... meaning you most likely need to drive around for an hour... and sit in the car for an hour doing nothing....)
Then the ERROR message will change back to CODE (you will hear a long beep)
Now you can enter your code. Remember do it slowly. Enter the key 1 by 1...
Do not input quickly, otherwise it will not work
Hope this helps!
The anti theft feature has been activated. Disconnect both battery terminasl
for some 30 seconds and reconnect the. If after doing this, the radio
asks for a CODE, then you need the code now, but if the radio keeps
displaying ERROR E the radio is bad.( the radio will never give you any
code to unlock it for that purpose you must go to your nearest Acura
dealer as they are authorized to retrieved it online from factory)
