SECURITY light lt on the instrument cluster ? Anti-theft system problem . You would need to take the driver wheel off to get at the transmission side cover off . The neutral safety switch is part of the internal mode switch . inside the transmission . Do you know what a relay is ? Myself , i would check the crank relay . Check in your under hood fuse box . Watch this video , he is showing a horn circuit but the crank relay works the sameway . VEHICLE RELAYS Operation Diagnosis If you jump 30 & 87 the starter will engage and start the vehicle . Before you start replacing parts check out the starter circuit wiring diagram . The crank relay is computer controlled . http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter the vehicle info. year, make , model and engine size . Then under system click on engine , then under subsystem click on starting . Now check out the diagram . Truefully ,your best bet would be to take to a qualified repair shop or GM dealer .

Where is the neutral safety switch located on a 2006 pontiac grand prix?

Where is the neutral safety switch located?
The neutral safety switch for an automatic transmission is located inside the transmission case or in the linkage that allows the vehicle to shift gears. This switch prevents you from starting the engine when the transmission is in any gear other than Park or Neutral.Jan 8, 2016

98 grand prix won't start battery good tried jump start nothing removed glove box relay clicking ? checked fuses under hood in fuss box all good will not turn over clicking noise from relay...

Better check with a test light for power to the small wire that goes to the starter from the key switch. If no power need to check for a neutral safety switch or fuse. Or the starter you got is bad. Alternator will not cause not to crank over

No crank 99 grand prix half the dash goes out somtimes

It could be the key switch, or the neutral safety switch.
You would need to know if you have power on the small wire on the solenoid that comes from the key switch when the switch is in the start position. The neutral safety switch is in the circuit between the key and the starter.

1999 grand prix lights works but wont start. hear one click behind dash when i turn the key to start it.

If you are saying the engine will not crank, try it in neutral instead of park.
The neutral safety switch could be faulty, or you could have a problem with the starter solenoid on the starter.

Sometimes it will start and sometimes the starter wont turn over

Start and crank are two different things.
If it will not crank sometimes, it could be the neutral safety switch or a dead spot in the starter, or something in the key switch.
Have you checked anything yet ?

My 2002 gram am will not crank

It the engine does not crank, its not the crank sensor.
If it cranks but won't start, it could be a long list of things including the crank sensor.
No crank could be the starter, neutral safety switch, key switch, or connection in the wiring.

I have a 1995 pontiac grand prix sometime it will start and sometimes it won't. i thought it was the starter solenoed so i bought a new starter but it is still doing it. when i turn the key everything...

Given the age of the car I'd check the neutral safety switch and the shifter linkage it could be causing the neutral safety switch to get a bad reading. After that I'd check the ignition switch itself. I don't remember if the '95 had a starter switch relay but you might check that too.

04 pontiac grand prix wont start.

first remove the battery and take it to a auto parts place and have them check it. move on from there. if the battery is good the do a starter draw test. take a meter and hook it to your battery. now have someone try and start the car. if the voltage on the battery drops from 12.8 to below 9 volts then the starter is bad. if the voltage doesnt drop much at all then its prolly the solenoid both of which require starter replacement since most solenoids are on starters. if still nothing then check ignition switch. but before anything else ensure vehicle is in park. if it is in part use a meter to test neutral safety switch.
