How do I remove the headlight assembly on my 2000 Careta

Remove the screw from the black tab on top of the headlamp assembly. Around the headlamp plug, there are 3 nuts, remove them carefully, as they are easily dropped and lost, remove the ring that secures the bulb to the assembly, it only turns a portion of a turn. Slide the entire headlight assembly partially out the front, then disconnect the rubber plug that contains the marker/turn signal bulbs. Re assemble in reverse order, making sure the headlight bulb is properly aligned or the ring will not tighten. Also,take care not to touch the headlight bulb glass, as the oil from your fingers may cause the bulb to break when it heats up. Hope this helps.

2. Remove engine under cover.
3. Remove front fender liner.
4. Remove front bumper cover.
5. Remove headlamp.assy.
   
6. Remove the bolts. (2 screws in plain site)
7. Disconnect the connectors.
8. Pull out the headlight unit forward.
9. Remove the headlight assembly.

why need a video, when all cars have books.?

Remove the air cleaner assembly after that push the tab on the headlight this releases the headlight assembly and now just pull the whole headlight assembly out from the outside. Once you have the assembly out now find the tabs on the headlight itself push on these tabs and the bulb will come out of it.

the horn is under passengers side headlight. remove headlight assembly then you can see it. to remove assembly, pull up the 2 plastic slide pins, that are on top of assembly. then pull it out. have a good one !

Normally pretty simple and easy. Don't know about Volvo-maybe some models need a lot of stuff removed to get to the assembly. Look on you tube video for headlight removal on Volvos-probably some or many.
That cost sounds outrageous-$260 for both headlights? I'm sure you could do it yourself, maybe just need a little guidance. Talk privately to a Volvo mechanic.

You have to remove the front bumper cover. Put the car on jack stands (the front) and remove the inner fender plastic. You'll need a long extension and a 10mm socket to remove the nuts and bolts holding the bumper cover in place. Once the cover is off removal of the headlight becomes obvious.

There are two "wing nuts" securing the entire plastic headlight assembly. One is mounted at the top-inboard(towards engine), And the other is outboard of the assembly. There is also one more plastic wing nut that hold the side marker light assembly Once these three wingnuts are removed, carefully remove the whole assembly. The headlight bulb is contained in the socket... one quarter turn counter-clockwise will remove the socket from the housing.

You have to remove the headlight assembly to remove the turn light assemble. There are two mounting bolts that hold the headlight assembly to the frame that needs to be removed and one mounting bolt that holds the turn signal light assembly on the headlight assembly that needs to be removed. Once all three bolts (black plastic in colour with a wing nut) have been removed the headlight and turn signal assembly can just be removed. Take note that the assembly has a guild slot to be guild in place back when re installing the head light and turn signal assembly. Good luck and hope this helps. If you are only changing the bulbs, on the back of the headlight assembly, you'll see two metal retainers that hold the rear cover to the assembly.  Pop those outward from the headlight, and the rear cover will be loose.  Pull back on it, and you'll see the bulbs.  Turn the retainer counter-clockwise, and it will pull off, allowing you to remove the bulb.  Installation is the reverse of removal.

Open hood and look at top back of the assembly and you will see 2 clips. Pull them up and remove,then release the lower clip and pull assembly out.
