Hi My 2005 Same Dorado 85 Tractor. It starts from cold easily first time around. But once the engine has been running for several minutes it stops.

It starts from cold easily first time around. But once the engine has been running for several minutes it stops. Then when i crank the engine again it starts momentarily then stops. It wont restart until its cold again. I have replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, checked fuel lines. I'm at a loss -thinking it may be the electronic governor? Has anyone had similar experiences?

Sounds like you could have a coolant temp sensor issue. If it senses the engine temperature higher than it actually is, it will tell the engine computer to shut down.

Also I'm not showing an 05 Eldorado, if you could give the correct information for your car, it would be very helpful

Some GM products also incorporate the oil sender switch into that circuit for fuel pump, so that in case of an accident, engine shuts off, oil pressure drops, in turn, shuts off power to fuel pump. May be worth a look at what your getting for oil pressure, as well as checking switch/sender.

SOURCE: 1997 Neon dies, starts after electric fuel pump relay swapped

Hello, I would assume this is your fuel pump inside your tank. I would first however do some basics like a general tuneup. For starters I would replace your spark plugs and wires, rotary cap and button and check your fuses. Run some injector cleaner through your system. You know quick simple cheap things before you get to the fuel pump inside the gas tank which can be kinda expensive. The warm up then dies can be caused by, "blownout or fouled," spark plugs. I hope this gives you a general direction in which to go. A sidenote is that coil packs do not normally run an igntion code and I for one do not like them becuase they are expensive.

SOURCE: 88 Toy, 22R Carb, hard cold start

in your carburetor there is a priming passage. look in there with the air cleaner out and pump the butterfly it should squirt gas. if it doesn't then you need to open the top part of the carb and clean the hole with a hair clip. if this is not the problem it will be the choke but I'm 70 percent that this is the problem.

Possibly you have a porous sump in the fuel tank.

Hi I drive opel corsa diesel it smokes heavy when starting

Friend, you really don't have a problem. I'll explain like no one else will. Your vehicle is computer assisted and there is a dependency here in all newer vehicles. Your diesel engine starts as well and easily as it does in cold weather because of the computer being connected with the engine water temperature sending unit/sensor. This sensor tells the computer that the engine is cold and he computer places the engine into a "Cold Start" mode. You crank it over and the engine starts easily. What the computer is doing is advancing the fuel output to the fuel injectors a little and placing extra fuel into each cylinder when needed for starting. The excess smoke you see from the exhaust is normal, and will stop the smoking once the engine warms enough for the temperature sending unit/sensor to tell the computer to stop the cold start mode and place the engine into the normal run mode. This is a normal procedure that we don't have to fool with doing because the computer does it for us. And now you know why the smoke is only there upon start-up only. Have a great day with no more concern about a problem that does not exist. Best to you friend, Rigger. Have fun with your toy.

High Idle at Start Up

This sounds like the RPM may be a little high, but normal operation is called a "cold start routine". Like the old fashion Choke, the "cold start routine" is suppose to increase the RPM for several minutes and then decrease to running idle speed. This will engage in each "cold" start, but not on a warm engine. It is designed to do this.

Usually when an engine runs higher RPM than it is set for, it means extra air is entering the engine from somewhere. Using a spray water filled bottle, go around seams and also spray vacuum lines and the EGR pod while the engine is running. Any openings will draw in the water and affect RPM. Then you will have found the leak.

Now you can look up you exact engine on the Web and find out 2 things. If it has a 2 piece intake manifold and if it has intake Manifold runners. The 2 piece design often failed when the gasket holding the 2 halves started dissolving. The intake runners, could stick out of position and make RPM higher.

Now aside from these 2 items, you might get a Code showing that the engine is running lean. This would actually not be showing the lack of fuel, but the overabundance of air coming from the leaks.

2.0d x-type 2005 Est. Starting problems when engine is warm

Ok, time for car school. The vehicle is operated by the computer, every electrical concept that is. When the engine is cold, it starts fine because the computer has placed it in "cold start mode", putting more fuel into the engine than normally would until Once the engine is warmed up, a temperature sending unit or temp sensor tells the computer to change to normal run mode. IF said temp sensor is faulty and is not telling the computer to make said change, it stays in cold start mode, still dumping excess fuel in the engine that is now not required, cause it's warmed up. Like keeping the choke closed on older vehicles. Now I think you can answer your own question, when this no start action is happening after warm up and it always starts fine when cold, what's the first thing you check ? Right, the unsuspected temp sensor. Change that and no more start problem. Have a wonderful day. Glad I could be of service.

Please describe limp mode. [email protected] Is the transmission effected, or engine performance. how long has the check engine light been on. And do you have starting issues during cold start. Ooh does this model have a ureurea system in it? An addtive to clean the catalytic system which needs to be service once a year...

Air conditioning failure above 85 degrees.

Initially I would suggest a Loss of FREON from the system, but there are also several reasons for the A/c to quit. Freon loss,[Leaking seal, Comp. front shaft seal, Split hose, Holed Condenser, Compressor Realay/Fuse failure, Thermo couple switch].
An easy out, is to Purchase 1 can of Freon with added Lubricant and 1 Can of Pure freon.
Inject the 1 Can with Lube into the High Pressure Side Adaptor Port. Look and Listen for Leaks. Start up, with Blowers on FULL speed, A/c Control on Max. A/c, and Heater Coolant Control on Cold[Blue]
Speed up the Engine to about 1500 RPM. Look to see if the Compressor Clutch on the Front is Engaged and Rotating, if it does wait about 30 seconds, and the Condenser Fan should Engage, continue to run the engine and check the Interior of the Vehicle for a change in AIR flow temperature. If it is cool, but not cooler. Stop the engine, and give about 2-3 minutes before adding more Freon from can 2.
If none of this happens to make it work, then I suggest you go to a Reputable A/c Repairer and ask for a CHECK & ADVISE ONLY,on your vehicle, so as to get an ESTIMATE, for repair of what is apparently defective in the system.

Rough engine on cold start. CEL blinked, now on all the time.

Take it to a different autoparts store and bring pen and paper. Write down codes. You can use search on browser and key in "Mercury code xxx" xxx means whatever number you are told by autoparts. Internet explorer will pull up code. Chances are the second autoparts store may be more knowledgable.

Your cold start circuit is not working and your friend may be right about coolant sensor. Also, the reader Advance used will not reprogram your car. It only reads problem so you have to change physical parts yourself.

Good Luck Joe
