the purge valve may very well be the problem. however, the control circuits,
electrical or vacuum, may also be at fault. testing the component is recommended before replacement. location is normally near the charcoal canister at the front of the car on the left or right side. some vehicles have the canister near the fuel tank. you can locate the component by
purchasing a repair manual for $15-$20 at a parts store or a used manual online which will be cheaper but you'll have to wait.
autozone.com has repair guides which you can access for free by registering and entering your vehicle. they might list the location. you'll have to do some navigating, but it could be worth it to try. here is some info on the subject.
