SOURCE: What are the possible causes

I've come across some with engines that needed a tune up, but in some cases it's the automatic transmission that is not working correctly causing bad fuel economy. What do you think is the problem in yours?

SOURCE: i have a 2005 honda accord and the fuel consumption is too high what is the cause and the solution to handle it.

The first thing is to check for fuel leaks and for restricted intake or exhaust and ensure the routine maintenance is up to date.

It is important to know what the current fuel consumption is in miles per gallon or km per litre. The modern trend of paying set amounts of money gives a wholly false impression of actual fuel consumption.

When checked accurately over a period and averaged to take account of different types of driving conditions, freezing temperatures and so forth, mostly the result is found to be not as bad as first imagined.

If all checks are found to be ok and the accurately checked consumption is still too high further checks will be needed.

A few possible faults are incorrect fuel pressures, bad injectors, incorrect valve timing, "tired" oxygen sensors, bad thermostat, "tired" temperature sensors...

Wheel alignment, tyre pressures and binding brakes can also be factors...

Hello everyone, I have a DAF CF 85 and it currently consumes 76 liters/100km. What is the problem as I consider the consumption as too high (32 liter/100km according to the manual).

Get it on a high level, pro grade scan tool and check long term and short term fuel trim.

Make sure all the tires are correctly inflated, no brakes binding and drive light footed.

Have high fuel consumption on my fiesta 1.4 fuel injection.11 lt/100km. car runs smooth.

high fuel consumption Petrus, sticking E brake, poor gas, tune up needed, lazy O2 sensor,
leaking injectors, driving habits, etc. all can cause more fuel consumption. Have it scanned to help determine cause.

When I fuel up my oil pressure goes up i.e. 1/2 tank of fuel over 80 on the oil guage at same time fuel consumption goes up drasticaly

Adding fuel to the fuel tank is absolutely unrelated to to any change in engine oil pressure.
The oil pressure will be higher when the engine oil is cooler and lower when the engine oil has warmed up.

If you are experiencing abnormally high oil pressure on start up I suspect you are running the incorrect type and grade of oil in the engine. Only use the oil specification(type and grade) listed by the manufacturer for your engine and nothing else.. If you are unsure what that is then it is specified in your owners manual for the vehicle.

High fuel consumption has also nothing to do with your engine oil pressure. If you are experiencing high fuel consumption then please read and examine these factors..........................
