My friend gave me some kerosine to put in the fuel tank on my peugeot 407 hdi. would it do any harm to the engine or fuel pump kerosine has no lubricunt in it

the pump only runs for a few seconds when the ignition is switched on if the engine does not start, check for a blown fuse or faulty pump relay .

The entire fuel system will need to be drained and purged (At the fuel pressure test port, Usually a scoville valve). The possibility of sticking of the piston rings could occur. Try removing the spark plugs and spray a liberal amount of PB Blaster into the cylinders and let soak for about 30 min. Then spin the engine to evacuate cylinders ,to prevent hydro-locking, reinstall the spark plugs. ASUMING the 407 is a gasoline engine, it should run. If the 407 is a diesel engine the mix should not have any adverse effect. Just keep adding fresh diesel fuel until rough run clears up.

i assume you mean the manual prime pump located on injector pump . well this can be a few things , ck these items, fuel filter , fuel lift pump , fuel stop valve and wiring

Do mean the diesel fuel? Please check the fuel pump for malfunction. You may need to check also the pump relay and power cables. Regards

The reason for the black smoke is that it is not getting enough air to burn the fuel completely.It could be a blocked air filter,obstruction in the air intake system,blown turbo,hole in tube between intake manifold and turbo,or a fault with the fuel system and injectors.
