SOURCE: High Fuel Consumption

this engine likes fuel. hard to say without seeing it but sounds like its drawing air somewhere.

SOURCE: 1991 Olds cutlass Cala 4cyl 151 5 speed

sounds sort of like a map sensor or the heating and cooling sensor. Both help regulate the fuel. also need to check to see if the thermastat is stuck to open. If the hot and cold sensor is giving a false reading of hot to the computer this can cause the car not to pump fuel. If the sensor is bad also replace the therm as well.

SOURCE: dodge cummins won't start, fuel reaching injector pump but no fuel coming out of injector pump.

You said you have fuel flowing from the inlet line of the injection pump? But not at the injector lines?

SOURCE: No/Low Fuel Pressure after replacing in-tank fuel pump & filter

Need to have the fuel pressure checked at fuel rail to know for sure if there is a fuel pressure problem for sure. There may be a in line filter as well, you can also do a check of the pressure regulator by pulling the vacuum line off of it then try starting the car with it off and see if it runs, if it does the regulator is bad, but IF it doesnt run doesnt necessarly mean it is good, a lot of fuel filters have a bypass wich allows the gas to bypass the filter when it is full bad thing is the debris can then plug the injectors causing problems, or there could be a loss of signal to tell the injectors to give fuel to the cylinders from an electrical or a sensor failure. So it is best to test the pressure to know for sure if it is in the fuel line or the injectors if it is truly being starved of gas. hope this helps

91 Ford F150 XLT Lariat 4.9l - no start and no fuel pump start

Tried starting it again and noticed that the fuel pump was not turning on..
this is not true done wrong,
and spark is first never ever fuel first, fuel does not burn lacking spark (gas)
if spark is bad on all spark plugs then fix spark. (all plugs dead)
you really really need to end that fixaction on fuel, spark is bad
the pump only pumps cranked and running not key on
most do a 1second prime most noobs never see or know how to find that out (a fuel pressure gauge is that tool) (a 2 man job)
one at key, 1 at gauge, or voltmeter at pump wires rear. 2man not 1 or learn to crank and see fuel pressure good
and learn this fact, too, the ECU on all cars made cuts fuel if the ECU brain detects spark loss to end crash and burn as seen on TV>
this is done 1 or 2ways or both cuts injectors and cuts the pump dead , on newer cars crash switches cut fuel too, so 3ways
end fuel , deals back to SPARK

its bad wiring for spark and using a voltmeter to the correct spot when spark fails is the only test to do.
91'F150 Pickup, not econoline 4.9L gas.
it has a distributor or TFI-I or TFI-iv system
the ICM must be thermal pasted new install or fails hot.
the SM book shows it has TFI spark. in the real 4.9 schematic.
lets focus ******* TFI 4.9L
AS YOU CAN SEE , ANY OF ALL THIS CAN FAIL AND DO THIS OLD.
BEST IS NEW FULLY LOADED DISTRIBUTOR THIS OLD !
Tests:
1: the red wire must be hot keyon, at spark lost or BINGO1
2:the ecu detectS spark loss at pin 4. input. and cuts fuel faST.
3:The TFI IS the ignitor acts like old points did it charges up the coil then fires it.
4: spark is lost we always check for spark directly at the COIN.
if dead there we know coil bad or all part to the left and below bad.
5:the red/light green wire must also be 12vdc hot keyon,
6: the noise cap not missing ,dead or bad or noise can make the TFI module misfire or act up at random, noise is not good here.
7: that is for power loss etc. the problem seems like wiring bad./loose., if spark is good at coil say so. as it might be and only the ignition suppressor is bad and this cuts fuel dead if bad.
the supressor name is not good, better is spark detection read back filter. if bad ECU CAN NOT SEE SPARK HAPPEN
heck it can even lost or its pins rust after 31 year on the road.

Hello, I own a 2001 Suzuki Ignis. I have been reading about the feul filter, (now know its in-built per se), so how can i rectify poor feul consumption + poor power esp on inclines. Beep67

A NON USA CAR, where is it what country? (engines and EFI vary by, countries sold to) (2 engines in 2001) near same but....what/?
1.3 L M13A I4 (petrol) with VVT
1.5 L M15A I4 (petrol) with VVT (VVT can fail and lose power too)

well, you did not do the right tests.
not using a scan tool first is #1 cause of going astray, do that first.
Fuel consumption low tell me it, the ECU is in limp mode. and the ECU has lots of DTC errors you are ignoring.
low power has many causes. not just one #10 filter. inside the tank
let me list them to you , in no order, and is ASE class 101 basics, all the way,

  1. low fuel pressure, bad filter, bad pump bad FPR fuel pressure regulator. we use a hand tool gage to find that.
  2. bad MAF sensor has this, NO ENGINE STATED BY YOU!
  3. bad spark if misfiring, ever do a tune up in 60,000 miles.????
  4. Bad fuel ,
  5. clogged or leaking fuel injectors.
  6. bad engine, is compression at spec? (more tools)
  7. CAT Melted, (ignoring those DTC error caused this)
that is about it, can go more, but you have no tools to test, so find a shop , to fix this car, as they SURE DO HAVE all tools to do that job right and fast.

I have a VZ Commodore V6 and the ECU is fried and I have the security codes for both of the ECU units original and second hand can I replace the ECU unit without unlocking the original one

Yes you can, Check and repair any faults , don't want to fry the new unit, Check the part number on the new ECU it must be the same as the old unit, auto and manual units are not interchangeable.

Why does my 04 caravan drink a lot of gas?

Your fuel sending unit in tank is bad,may be incorparated with fuel pump or by itself.Car isn't going to drink gas that fast unless leaking. If tank reads a half, fill up to see if it's really half empty, and if it is half full, then your driving a gas hog.

Vectra1.8 130 sri 2002 service diagrams

Opel vectra similar to a saturn i would imagine ,anyway the only fuel filter that i know of is the gauze filter on the bottom of the fuel pump remember of course that eythenol or bio fuel addition is limited to 5% in europe so we dont suffer from a build up water vapour like the americans as this fuel is hydroscopic and absorbs water vapour from the air.Now iam not sure exactly whats wrong here and why your looking for the fuel filter but i suspect that the engine is missing and not pulling right ,i have been repairing cars a long time and only ever change a fuel filter for a petrol engine if the casing is rusting through as they never give a problem but if i had more facts on a fault then i could post some sort of reply but on this make and year of vehicle suspect the ECU unit its bolted to the right hand side of the inlet manifold and they do go wrong quite often especially the siemans unit made in chehoslovakia ,spelt that wrong havent i never mind but these computers do go and give all sorts of weird and wonderful faults .

My 91 blazer (Jimmy) just quit running. Looks like getting gas. Just turns over and over. Won't start. Just instantly WTF?!

What do you mean it looks like its getting gas ? Try removeing the fuel filter its an in line filter located on the frame rail under the drivers door . Then put a plastic soda bottle on the line that is comeing from the gas tank and turn the key to run for 5 seconds . If you don't get at least 3 to 4 ounces of fuel then your fuel pump is bad . Or its the relay in the glove box or its the oil pressure sending uint . Have you been haveing problems with the oil pressure gauge or dose it start hard a long cranking time . Long cranking is the relay oil pressure problems is the sending unit but it is a back up power supply for the fuel pump . If the filter is clogged the pump is probably shot you could try replaceing the filter but that pump olny last 10 years at best it just depends if its been replaced at one time witch may be likely seenig its 20 years old the new ones were better a lot of upgrades on them check it out i can't do it for you olny you can do it good luck

Wont stay started

You could try changeing the fuel filter but it is likely that you need a new fuel pump if its the origanal one in the vehiclethey normaly last 10 to 12 years if your lucky and don't put a lot of miles on it
