2010 chevy Equinox LT Left rear wheel is locked. Could the parking brake be stuck on?

No warning indicators on. Locked while driving up our driveway. Came unlocked and seemed fine eventually but when put in drive today, left rear wheel locked up. Any ideas?

It could be a parking brake issue but it could also be a failed wheel bearing. If you get that wheel off the ground, does it flop around? If so, you need at least a bearing. It may have damaged the knuckle as well. It should have made a distinct roaring or humming sound as it was failing.

SOURCE: Rear Axle Bearing

i know for a fact that the bearing comes with the hub., and if the old bearing is badly damage you may need to heat it to remove it from the axel...so this may be a rather big job if your not equipt
with torch or other ...

SOURCE: right rear wheel locking up

okay you had brake work done!!! "THINKING" that was the problem originally right rear wheel locking up! okay,,, so doing brakes has not solved your problem! I would maybe look into rear end bearing??? do you have any load road noise from rear and do you have rear end fluid in differential? question to you was the baking plate ""WET"" looked damp? or moister get at it!??? seal might have leaked all fluid out??? all the above would be good place to start! good luck I hope this info helps you out.Happy new year.

SOURCE: Left rear brake light stopped working but bulb and fuses are OK.

These are Dual Function Bulbs. They control the Parking Lights and the Brake Lights. This Bulb is Burnt out on the Brake Coil inside the Bulb. I have actually seen Bulbs that were Bad But you could not Tell by jast looking at them. It should be fine with a New Bulb. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!

SOURCE: Handbrake locked on rear wheel of volvo 440

Turn thr "Star wheel" between the brake pads with a screwdriver. Count the number of notches. Once you have the brakes freed up, reassemble and adjust using the same number of nutches in the opposite direction. You most likely have a cable stuck in locked position. If possible, DRY LUBE it. If not, Install a new cable or sleeve.

1999 Chevy Tracker 3 of 4 Wheels locked up

. This could be due to a malfunctioning locking hub control system, which is responsible for engaging the front wheels . Another possibility is that the front axle actuator is faulty . The rear breaks may have seized, another possibility, after the break was on so long.. Regarding grinding, It's possible that the transfer case has been damaged due to lack of use or that there is a problem with one of the gears inside.About the power issue, there could be an issue with the drivetrain. It's possible that one of the axles has become disconnected or that there is a problem with one of the differentials. You mentioned that both driver side and passenger rear wheels are stuck, which could indicate a problem with one of these components. I recommend taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for diagnosis.

2000 toyota 4runner rear brake locked up, will go back, then neutral will roll little bit, then stuck, now in driveway, can not go anyway, please help!

You need to remove the rear wheels and the rotor/drums. You will find your problem in the parking brake shoes. You will need to replace these.

The rear passenger wheel is locked up

hi this sounds like you might have rear brake drum internal problems, does the parking brake work ok? what might of happened is that one of the brake shoes inside the drum/disk might have thrown its covering and has gone around inside the drum and locked the wheel up like the parking brake is on there really isn't anything else to go wrong that would cause that, you will need to remove the rear disk/drum if you can, as it could really be any internal part broken like a spring or the self adjuster...hope this helps please vote

Passenger rear wheel locked up, 2004 Chevy Aveo LS, person said parking brake was stuck.. coiuld it have frozen that way?

This also happened to my 2004 Chevy Aveo. The drivers side rear wheel locked up when it first got extremely cold in December 2009. I had to change the rear wheel cylinder because it broke. They also found the rear wheel bearing also had to be changed. GM charges $180 for 1 rear wheel bearing. To make matters worse I had to order the whole backing plate which came with the rear wheel cylinder and a whole bunch of hardware.
If you look in the GM manual it says that you should flush and change your brake fluid every 24 months. My mechanic told me that moisture normal wrecks the brake cylinder. I'm not sure what happened to the wheel bearing but from now on I'll make sure to flush my brake fluid every 24 months.

2006 chevy equinox lt can't get the key to turn. so the car won't start, stuck in park all-wheel drive so it won't tow or move out of the parking spot.

Turn the key while turning the wheel, either to left or right. "jiggleitalittleit'llopen" I had the same thing happen to our GMC safari, the steering wheel got locked. The wheel had turned sharply and it was jammed. I fiddled with it turning the wheel back and forth while trying to turn the key, eventually it popped loose. 'WHEW!' Good Luck!
