SOURCE: 99 alero rear doors locked wont open

Your rear doors probably have a child safety lock on them, there should be a switch somewhere that can be shut off, as far as where it is... couldn't tell ya, try calling dealer

that's probably just bad spares. try going to a different store to have them cut (hardware stores are a good place to go) or you could go to a gm dealer too.

SOURCE: Automatic door locks on 1999 Alero don't work

look for the lock and unlock relays check them to see if they work.what you do is look at relay.look at terminal blades.you have a number 86 and 85 terminals on relay.connect terminal 86 with a jumper wire to positive battery terminal.then connect 85 terminal to ground with jumper wire.if the relay click its good. if not replace it.if relays is good you have bcm problems it control door locks.dealership job.

How to reset anti-theft on a 2000 alero

The security, antitheft or lock picture/icon is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterprets this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. This link explains it pretty well.

My 2000 cougar, i can't get my hood open. THE PULL LATCH INSIDE CAR SEAMS THAT CABLE IS NOT CONNECTED TO THE PULL.

Hi ,
This problem is extremly common. Let me explain something.....
Chances of the cable being broken are very slim. The cable has around 1200 lbs of tensile strength, wheras you can only exert about 30-50 lbs force while pulling the handle inside the vehicle. You can however verify the cable is still attatched by pulling on the handle and feeling behind it with a pair of needle nose pliers to grasp the cable. An extra twist down pull motion at that time can also be achieved to make the cable pull a slight bit beyond its intended travel path. If it pulls very far, it could indeed be detached from the hood latch, but this is highly unlikely. Usually the hood pin gets stuck in the lock due to the fact that people do not lubricate the locks on their car (hood, doors, trunk, rear hatch, etc.). Periodically all these locks , door pins and recievers should be lubricated with white lithium grease and the lube worked in by hand to prevent sticky lock mechanisms. (a squirt of WD-40 into your door locks as well will make them work smoother)
After you have verified your cable is indeed attatched still, push down sharply on the hood and release. This will either reset the lock mechanism or release the hood pin. Try that a couple times, pulling the inside release in between times until your hood pops open. Once open, lubricate the lock in all moving areas and manually work the lock and release a few times to work the grease into the jointed parts to prevent this from occuring again. Do this for all the locks on your vehicle and especially around the pins in the door hinges to reduce wear and insure trouble free lock mechanisms.

Windows wont work fuses are fine

If the windows work @ the specific door, but not from the driver's door, then the switch is bad on the Driver's door - get a used one from a wrecking yard.

If they don't work from any door than a relay is likely bad. A mechanic would need to diagnose that issue.
