Jul 15, 2014 - OK, just picked up a 2000 DX hatch, automatic. Stock interior everything except previous owner changed gear selector stick with an aftermarket .

is it possible the sensor is contaminated with like say dirt or snow. OR, the sensor may be dislodged from its mount. Barring this I would suspect either the sensor has failed or a wiring issue.

This is a pretty easy fix.

1. Keep you foot on the break and turn the car on.
2. Press the odometer/trip button until your dash displays the odometer mileage.
3. Turn the car off and while keeping your foot on the break, restart the car by pressing the on button.
4. Immediately press and hold down the Odometer/trip button for at least 10 seconds.
5. While still holding down the Odometer/trip button put the car in reverse. You will hear the reverse beeping. Then push the park button.
6. You can now release the Odometer/trip button and if you keep pushing the button you can toggle the beep to come on or turn off by looking on your dash. It should say "b-on" or "b-off".
7. Toggle it to the "b-off" setting and put your car in reverse and that annoying beep should be turned off.

Your vehicle has a thermastatically controlled fan so by driving it for 45 minutes it probably reached the preset temperature and the radiator cooling fan engaged. My advice would be to get adequainted with your new vehicle and check things over closely. Check all fluid levels and make sure that the levels are correct.
You might also want to find a Ford Taurus forum on the internet and read comments posted by other owners of your year vehicle to get little tips on the do's and don'ts associated with your vehicle.

because the prius is such a nightmare to work on,i would suggest you try to live with the noise or park it where you dont have to reverse.you cannot just bypass the buzzer.......

you cant eliminate beeper yourself but if you taake it to the dealer it being so new they have to hook up the scan tool to turn of your beeper as long as its as factory system i work at a toyota dealer and we do this for cust a lot our computer has all the options in you car that are changeable due to the cust preference hope this helps

The triangle with an exclaimation mark in the middle is the Master Warning Light .
