What make , model an year vehicle ? An engine size . Most TPS sensors are non adjustable . An you can't tell if it's bad without testing . Suggest you take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop that know how to test an replace a TPS , because i think your just guessing , looking for a magical fix .That's not how we repair automobiles .

Test your fuel system for pressure. If fuel pressure is low, fuel pump is bad.

SOURCE: Hesitates badly and almost stalls when accelerater

Possible, but it is for sure a fuel issue and must be checked starting from a choked fuel line, low fuel pressure at the pump or a bad blocked injector which improve on heat.
You will need to check the details of each to finalise the suspect.

SOURCE: I need to know how to test the cam shaft position sensor on a 2003 ford explorer xlt / 4.6 liter with a multi meter

You need a live data scanner to test this, no static test will properly diagnose the sensor operation.

Is a Throttle Position Sensor the same thing as a Transmission control Module

The TPS ( THOTTLE POSITION SENSOR) tells the engine computer and trans how far you are pushing the gas pedal. Its mounted on the side of the thottle body. It will make the engine surge if it is failing. Have replaced this part many times for this problem. TCM (TRANS CONTROL MODULE) control trans shifting. The tps is and one of the input sensor for shifting.

My abs light has come on and i added brake fluid.it didnt help.also my speed odometer isnt working.suddenly.

  • Sounds like your ABS sensor needs replaced. The speed sensors sends signals to the computer for the ABS and that is the sent to the speedometer. No ABS - No signal.
  • To get to your ABS sensor you can jack the car up and remove the tire and it will be inside (on the top) of the HUB (bearings) on the spindle. When you remove the ABS sensor follow these steps to test each one before replacing it.
  1. Remove the ABS sensor.
  2. You will see two contact points on the end of the plug.
  3. Get a multi meter and set it to Ohms and put negative to negative and positive to positive from your multi meter to the contacts on the ABS sensor. You should get the same reading of Ohms as the sensor is. If not then it needs replaced. You did not list the year, make or engine size of your Volvo so at this point I cannot tell you the Ohm rating of your sensors. You can find this information out in your car manual or a simple call to a parts store.
  • That being said the alternator going bad can do this too. But there is more symptoms to go with the ones you expressed. The car may ****, things may not be working as usual, lack of power. These are because the alternator goes bad and the battery can not keep up and the car could die sometime.

Car cranks but will not start (without pumping gas) if temp. is below 30 degrees. Car also will not start without great difficulty after engine has run for more than 10 minutes. Fuel pressure regulator...

Pumping the gas on an injected engine does little except for varying the amount of air going into it. I'd try to find a "happy place" to position the pedal when attempting to start it. You may want to test the manifold air temperature sensor, throttle position sensor and map sensor, possibly even the engine temp sensor, all of which may be contributing to the problem if they are out of range. The items you mentioned are another good idea to check as well as the pump and pump resistor near the master cyl on the fender (if yours has one).
Problem with diagnosing something like that online is that without actually doing tests on the components I mentioned, since many sensors feed info to the computer, which the computer makes adjustments for, many times in making those adjustments it can make one problem appear to be very much like what it isn't. You will need a fuel pressure tester to do any real testing on the fuel system but with either a haynes or chilton manual as a reference, you can do specific testing on everything else using a digital multi-meter.

How can I be sure if it's my tps that's bad?

A scan tool is necessary to check the TPS voltage so if tool not available have a local shop or dealer perform this. Otherwise a check engine light may be induced from the mis-adjusted TPS sensor. There is the old school way to check and your going to need a multi meter. Disconnect the wire harness from the TPS and use the multi meter to test the resistance on the TPS, as you turn the throttle up the resistance should go up as a contain value in a smooth readings without any jumps. Good luck and hope this helps, keep me posted be glad to help and why do you think there is a TPS malfunction
