SOURCE: 2003 Mercedes-benz Sprinter cdi 316 cuts out and doesn't start

Hi, My thoughts exactly ( fuel leak). Is this a deisel or gas engine?
In both cases be very careful with lights or cigarettes.
You can smell it when you get out of car in a garage or stall.
Good luck.

Why back up lights come on when I pull the key out of ignition on 2006 lacrosse buick

Any DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in any module ? PCM/ECM , BCM , TCM etc..... That would be the first diagnostic step - hook up a factory or some other type of professional scan tool . We don't guess , we test . Then we read service information on how it works . Or suppose to work . Backup Lamps The CHMSL/BKUP fuse in the instrument panel (I/P) fuse block supplies battery positive voltage to the body control module (BCM). When the driver places the gear selector in to the REVERSE position, the powertrain control module (PCM) sends a class 2 message to the BCM. The BCM then applies battery positive voltage to the backup lamp supply voltage circuit. The left backup lamp is grounded at G301 and the right backup lamp is grounded at G302.
DTC B2545 Backup Lamps Circuit
DTC B2545 is set either when the backup lamps supply voltage circuit is shorted to ground or opened, or if the CHMSL/Bkup fused voltage supply circuit to the BCM is shorted to ground or opened.
If no DTC'S are set ,then go to diagnostic flow chart . Backup Lamps Always On

2005 sts caddy when abs traction Control System and stability system lights flash. Loses power until shut off ignition and turn back on. No lights on now but had scanned and got codes co242 and co561

Do you know what diagnostic flow charts are ? Every DTC has a factory diagnostic test's to test electrical circuit's , computer , sensor's etc...
DTC C0561 System Disabled Information Stored
The electronic brake control module (EBCM) disables the traction control when other electronic control modules set DTCs for components that effect the operation of the traction control system.
The PCM or BCM diagnoses a condition preventing the engine control portion of the traction control function and sends a serial data message to the EBCM indicating that torque reduction is not allowed. The PCM or BCM will typically set a DTC and the EBCM will set this DTC.
Diagnostic Aids
This DTC is for information only. As an aid to the technician, this DTC indicates that there are no problems in the ABS/TCS system.
.
DTC C0242 PCM Indicated TCS Malfunction
The electronic brake control module (EBCM) and the powertrain control module (PCM) simultaneously control the traction control. The EBCM sends a serial data message to the PCM requesting torque reduction. When certain PCM DTCs are set, the PCM will not be able to perform the torque reduction for traction control. A serial data message is sent to the EBCM indicating that traction control is not allowed.

This DTC is for information only. As an aid to the technician, this DTC indicates that there are no problems in the ABS/TCS system.

Your best bet , take it to the dealer where they have factory scanner an can read the info you can't.

Figuring out what to fix next on 2005 caddy dhs

Please go to the link provided and just input the code for definition and possible causes. Keep in mind a fault code doesn't mean a particular part is defective, it only indicates that a problem in that circuit or the signal given is not correct for the values seen by other sensors. Anti-Theft System NOTE: The system immediately monitors the ignition switch lock cylinder (11582) upon removal of the key from the ignition switch lock cylinder. It is not necessary to arm the system for ignition switch lock cylinder monitoring.
VISUAL INSPECTION CHART Mechanical Electrical
  • Damaged luggage compartment door lock cylinder.
  • Damaged hood ajar switch or bracket.

  1. If inspection reveals an obvious concern that is readily serviced, correct the concern before continuing with Inspection and Verification.
  1. If the concern remains after the inspection, connect the Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester 007-00500 or equivalent to the data link connector (DLC) located beneath the instrument panel to perform the Data Link Diagnostics Test. If the NGS responds with NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for the lighting control module, go to Pinpoint Test A . If the NGS responds with NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for the driver door module, go to Pinpoint Test B . If the Data Link Diagnostic test is passed for the lighting control module and driver door module, retrieve continuous DTCs and execute self test diagnostics.
  1. If self test is passed and no DTCs are retrieved, go to the Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics.
  1. If DTCs are retrieved for the driver door module, go to the Driver Door Module Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index to continue diagnostics.
  1. If DTCs are retrieved for the lighting control module, go to the Lighting Control Module Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index to continue diagnostics.
  1. If the lighting control module cannot be accessed by the NGS tester, go to Pinpoint Test A . If the driver door module cannot be accessed by the NGS tester, go to Pinpoint Test B .
Rotunda Service Bay Diagnostic System (SBDS®) 001-00001 may also be used to diagnose this system.
There are a great deal of components involved here an the best way to tell what's working or not is have a scan tool hooked up to check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes !

Code p0011

http://www.datsc.com/tabid/122/OBD-Error-Code/P0011/Diagnostics/Mercedes-Benz/Default.aspx
"..........OBD Code P0011refers to
A code P0011 refers to the VVT (variable valve timing) or VCT (variable camshaft timing) components and the car's PCM (powertrain control module, also called an ECM). That consists of a few different components but the P0011 DTC specifically refers to the camshaft (cam) timing. In this case, if the cam timing is above a set limit (over-advanced), the engine light will be illluminated and the code will be set. The "A" camshaft is either the intake, left, or front camshaft.

SymptomsPossible sumptoms of OBD code P0011
Most likely a P0011 DTC will result in one of the following: hard starting, poor idle, and/or stalling. There are potentially other symptoms as well. Of course, when trouble codes are set, the MIL (malfunction indicator lamp, a.k.a. the check engine light) illuminates.

CausesPossible causes of OBD code P0011
A P0011 DTC trouble code may be caused by one or more of the following: Incorrect camshaft timing Wiring problems (harness/wiring) in intake timing control valve control solenoid system Continuous oil flow to VCT piston chamber Failed timing valve control solenoid (stuck open)

Possible SolutionsThis DTC code is a result of a mechanical fault of the VCT unit or related components, so there is no need for electrical diagnosis. Refer to vehicle specific repair manual to perform component tests for the VCT unit. Notes: Dealer techs have advanced tools and the ability to follow detailed troubleshooting steps, including the ability to test components using a scan tool.
