SOURCE: 1996 ford taurus odometer stopped working

the Speedo in your car is electronic, the problem is the tiny motor that moves the needle is most likely defective, there are no parts for the Speedo available to the consumer from Ford, you must remove the Speedo and have it repaired by a authorized Speedo repair shop. here is a link to a good one I know about.

SOURCE: how do you remove the stereo from a 1998 ford taurus

A special tool is not needed. You can cut 2 pieces of coat hanger and bend them into a U and they work the same as the special tool

SOURCE: I need instructions on how to install an after

The best way is to get a stereo installation kit from a local car stereo shop or Auto Zone. It will have the surround to put the new stereo in, to install in the car. It will also have a wiring harness to wire the new stereo to, and will plug into the vehicle's stereo plug.

Yes I have a 2004 Ford Taurus & the stereo works fine but the CD doesn't work in it?

There is obviously power to the stereo so the issue is the internal mechanics. When you consider the degree of difficulty in removing the stereo and finding someone to repair it you may want to consider replacing the stereo with an after market unit.

Im trying to install an after market stereo and need to replace the wires for it to work. does the wires from the stereo go all the way to the amp in the trunk? or does it go some where else? or connect or...

If you're finding it difficult to service/repair your
car, get one of those online manuals. You'll not have to wait for others to answer, or rely on mechanics and all. Plus i know a website that has very good manuals online, without expiry i.e. for lifetime. www.reliable-store.com

I have a 2001 Ford Taurus, just installed a factory stereo/heat control unit back in the car but I have no power to the stereo. What should I check?

I would check the fuses for the radio. One should be in the engine compartment distribution box and there should be another fuse in the interior fuse box. If these fuses are intact and you have a multimeter, I would check the presence of at least 2 pins with + 12 Volt on the radio connector. The pin out diagram can be seen if you do a search for the 2001 Taurus. Good luck, hope this helps.

2000 Ford Taurus - Installed a new radio and used the Meta 99-5716 install kit with wiring harness. After install, radio, pwr windows, pwr locks, dome light, windshield wipers, and speedomoter have stopped...

Sounds like you have blown fuses which could have happened if you accidently short circuted something while wiring up the new stereo. Check your fuses to see if any of them are blown.

How to install an aftermarket stereo in a 87 ford Taurus

This is a very big task. If I was teaching you how to do it, it would take about 5 installs until I would let you do it by your self. If this is some thing that you want to do then there are tons of web sites on this topic. Tons of Youtube videos. You also need all the right tools. Good luck. PS You can always pay some one to install it and you can watch and learn.

Stereo stopped working along with speedometer

It's probably not a fuse. It sounds like your vehicle speed sensor went bad in the transmission. The reason your radio stopped working was because your radio is probably equipped with speed sensitive volume and it requires a speed signal to work.

Here are the factory wire colors, please rate this solution to your problem, a note any stereo store that sells auto decks has adapter wiring harnesses to do a direct plug in of your DIN standard radio you are trying to install, no cutting of the factory harness, they are cheap
