SOURCE: how to install a coolant temp sensor in a 1995 ford escort

The coolant temperature switch and fan control switch are located sie by side, mounted in the steel portion of the heater hose that runs from the thermostat housing to the firewall, it is underneath the air intake tube and the ignition coil pack, mounted to the back of the cylinder head. Either drain out some coolant or be very quick, and you can unplug and unscrew each switch from the hose and replace it with a new one. Make sure the engine is cold. After replacing make sure to check the coolant level add as neccessary. The single wire connector switch is for the guage, and the other is for fan control. Hope this helps, let me know.

could be thermostat partially opening only quarter way, what happens is......your coolant sit's in radiator and stay's cool and the other half is warm in engine then it will transit when you accelerate (pushing that sudden change of temp in coolant to your Ect and then your knock and Ect send a derastic message to your brain saying advance and rich out ,I found out the hard way, IT LICK"S MAN!! put stat in boiling pot of water and watch it open and how far is the tricky part,it may open....****!!!!! with restrictive and tricky results to your ECT,the port in your thermostat was designed for a certain gph and in lamen terms set as timing for flow ratewhen you cruise it bucks or what the start kinda running over 2200rpm then bam! then back to chitty land! right???

How do i fix my coolant leaking problem. My radiator, temp gauge switch, sensor, and hoses are all leaking coolant. I already fixed my thermostat but what should i do about the leaking problem?

Sorry to bring bad news but if all those things are leaking coolant then you will have to remove, clean, repair and possibly replace all of the parts where the leaks are occuring and reinstall being sure everything is tight.

1995 Ford Thunderbird Temp Gauge goes up when idling

Try to bleed the system. Also keep an eye on the coolant level. If it drops and you see no leaks the you could have a blown head gasket. Also replace the thermostat and hoses.
