What is The importance of Extended car warranty when purchasing a used car?

If you decide to purchase an extended warranty be very cautious and make sure you ask questions. I purchased one for about nine hundred dollars and six weeks later my car broke down on the road. After getting towed in and telling me my car computer had mal functioned and I needed a new one. I assumed it was covered so I told them to repair it. Six hundred dollars later I showed them my warranty and they said it was no good. Why?
There was a clause in there that anything to do electrical was not covered in small print of course. Computer is classified as an electrical item. My warranty covered Power Train only and they did not tell me that. Power train covers transmission - Motor and the wheel bearings stuff like that. I will never purchase one again as they wanted an extra amount of money for electrical items coverage.

I would ask hard questions on this one I paid almost a thousand dollars for an extended warranty on a used car and six weeks later I had to tow the car in. I showed them the warranty paper work and they answered oops it does not cover the computer and parts. It was running parts only like engine and tranny.

Not unless you have purchased an extended warranty that covers HVAC components. The original factory warranty was for 3 years.

Hello: You should be ok making the purchase but I highly recommend purchasing the extended warranty for 100,000 miles. Best to buy the GM warranty. Run a car fax on it.

IF YOU HAVE MERCEDES BENZ.IF YOU HAVE EXTRA MONEY I WOULD ADVISE EXTENDED WARRANTY.THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION WOULD BREAK YOU QUICK.DO ALL YOUR MAINTENANCE INTERVALS.KEEP ALL RECEIPTS AND RECORDS OF OIL CHANGES.

$385-$2000 depending on what you want covered and the mileage. Depending on your state, you have a limited time to take the car back for a refund. It may be 3-7 days, really depends where you live.

If you purchased this vehicle new than this visor still might be covered under warranty...especially if you bought an extended warranty.Some warranty companies cover any and everything from bumper to bumper no questions asked.A sure answer would be to make a quick phone call to either the extended warranty company if you have that coverage or the dealer that you had purchased this vehicle from.Thanks for your time!!! Horsecrap...go to an independent transmission dealer after you call the extended warranty folks and complain!
I can count the number of Honda transmissions that go bad before 300,000 miles on one hand.

I believe this wold be a good investment, if you had a trans go out it would cost $3000 AC compressor $1000, transfer case, $1500+ and so on. say this from 30 years of automotive repair cost experience, also u will get a free rental car on most repairs.
