I just changed the battery in my fob for 2011 Journey Crew, with the battery removed ( from fob ) I did start my car by pushing the start button whith my fob... so the theory is tested and true.... also the battery you'll need is CR2032 available everywhere... and removing the battery will NOT remove the programming of your fob ( also tested )... so no need to visit the "steelership" Hope this helps....

They are a pain to get off and out. On the drivers side, At the engine and transmission. I use double swivels an sockets to get the bolts, plus extensions. I don't disconnect the battery, but you should. After the starter bolts are out, pull the starter back and twist it to take the 2 wires off it.1 big, 1 small. Push them back of the way. Now you have to push the starter forward/front and up, then twist it left and right to get out from between the engine and exhaust. It will come out, then go back in.. Important part.. There is a plate that goes in between the starter and transmission that has to go back in, It absolutely has to be there. It will fall out. If you do not put it in, you'll be doing this job again soon, and trying to find the plate.
