My truck kept draining the battery and after removing the radio fuse the problem stopped. Can I just replace the fuse or should I replace the whole battery?
As Jeff answered the problem is with the radio. It is probably shorting out........ replace the radio or get it tested.
The radio has failed or is not wired properly. Is it aftermarket or original?
Testimonial: "The radio was working fine. It is the original."
What made you remove the radio fuse? Does the radio work?
It's possible there is another component on that fuse circuit that is draining the battery.
The fuse was removed at the shop when taken there for help. It has been some months now and have not had another problem starting. Just no radio, cd's or clock.
Well, I don't have a manual for your car, but here is a suggestion: disconnect the radio and, with the key off, connect a 12vdc test light between the fuse terminals. If it lights up bright, you still have a draw, and the radio is probably good. Get a wiring diagram and see what else is connected to that fuse. If the test light doesn't burn bright, reconnect the radio and try the light again. If it burns bright, with the key off, the radio is the problem. Make sense? If it still doesn't burn bright, look around the radio wiring for a skinned wire that could be shorting to the dash frame.
