SOURCE: Leaks oil looks like from valve cover

You have to remove the spark plugs cables and remove the four nuts that you see when the cables are removed.

When the four nuts are removed, simply raise the valuve cover. When replacing the gasket, make sure you get the gromets as well. Those sometimes get worn or crack since they are more exposed than the value cover gasket. Make sure that you clean the cover from oil and replace the gasket with no use of silicon.

Good Luck.

SOURCE: Olds silhouette heater blows cold air

as long as the engine temperature is normal, i would suspect a clogged heater core, the dex-cool antifreeze is notorious for building up deposits in cooling system. have heater core flushed first to see if it makes any difference

SOURCE: leaking valve cover gaskets

The problem is over tightening.

If you over tighten your fastners you will sqeeze your gaskets too much and they WILL leak.

You can use black silicon sealant LIGHTLY but you don't really need it. If you have the V6...the torque on them nuts are only 80 in lbs each

could be time for head gaskets
make sure the old gasket from the old filter came off the block sometimes they come off old filter and stick this causes a leak due to improper seal.

What could cause the oil to run out above the starter only while running?

It seems to me that you might have a problem with your head gasket, also check the valve cover gasket, for the heads gasket if this is the problem you might want to take it to a mechanic shop, and if is your valve cover gasket you can do this your own self, ask auto zone for the tienen process make sure you put silicone on the proper edges good luck!!!!

Why is my 1992 cut;*** leaking oil already replaced head gasket could it be leaking from the block?

Hello Tina,
The most common ENGINE oil leaks come from a valve cover gasket, a front or rear main engine seal, a timing cover gasket/or seal, oil pan gasket/oil filter/housing/drain plug, or a faulty sensor. If you can't see where it's leaking from the topside, have it hoisted for further inspection.
Good Luck, i hope this helps & thanks for using FixYa.

I think the coolant is getting into the engine. The oil cap and PCV have an orange foam on them. Any good stop leaks? Or suggestions?

you can purchase stop leaks, but i would have the vehichle checked out for a blown head gasket, or leaking intake manifold gasket and get it fixed right, hope that this has helped you.

Replace valve cover gasket

I have the same problem on a 2003 Town & Country. The cover for the front 3 cylinders is quite straight forward, but in order to do the rear cylinders I believe you are going to have to remove the cowling below the windshield. You will need a gear puller to remover the windshield wipers first, then remove the cowling. Than should give you more room to work. It's still not going to be easy, but it sure beats paying hundreds of $$$$ in labor charges.
