My wifes getz will at random not start all the time. Some days it will happen where u will have to try and start about 6 times before it will fire, no matter if hot or cold or whether it has been turned off for 15 minutes or 5 hours. Have taken car in but it didnt play up for dealer and they dont know what problem was, took the ignition apart and said try that. Problems still there and we are very frustrated, anyones help will be gratefully appreciated.

I just worked on a different model Hundai with the same sounding problem. I discovered that the starter was drawing to much voltage and starving the ignition system not allowing it to fire. I ran an amperage draw test and when it was discovered that it was the starter that was the culprit we replaced the starter with a rebuilt starter and it cured the intermitant starting problem. I hope this helps solve your problem.

I had the timing belt on my getz 2004 replaced on Thursday and now it won't start at all. Could it be related
When you turn the key and the yellow light depicting a car with a key (on the dashboard) does not stay steady (not blinking), the problem could be that the ignition transponder (black ring around the ignition switch) does not interact with the chip inside the key anymore. The way to solve it is to place a spacer behind the transponder to force it closer towards the key in the ignition. That should solve the problem. As a test, hold your spare key close to the transponder while the other key is in the ignition and see if the car starts.
