you do not need to change the ring gear ,just find a pre engaged starter from a escort/cortina/capri with the same type of engine ,cant remember how many teeth you need think its 9 but its a long time ago since i had my greasy mits on real car.thought count the teeth on the inertia its the same .often put the wrong flywheels on the wrong engines on night shift and they just got a different starter on the final assembly

cylinder bolt torque settings stage 1 15 ft pounds
stage 2 50 ft pounds
stage 3 85 ft pounds
valve clearences 0.15 - 0.20mm inlet
0.22 - 0.27mm exhaust
these are the figures i have been supplied with, you can also use
cylinder bolts stage 1 10 ft pounds
stage 2 50 ft pounds
stage 3 + 90deg.
with my exp, i would use the first guide as the degree method has a tendancy to snap head bolts, especially on older vehicles.
