SOURCE: 90 chevy silverado lights not working

You must have a bare wire at the back of your truck that's shorting out where gravel stones have pounded the outside coating off. If you have an after market trailer plug on there, you might want to check that out too. The connections to your main wires from the trailer plug, are never done properly, and always cause problems somewhere.

SOURCE: I'm trying to find the plug under my 2011 chev traverse for the factory tow harness I bought!

There is not a factory plug. You must by a kit and connect through the tail lights. This will take 10 min at most 20 min for someone with minimal knowledge of tools and automotive work. Hope I am not to late with the info.

Hi Strathms, I'm glad to help!

I shooting in the dark here, but if your losing brightness in the dash lights and the radio then the most likely cause would be the "DIMMER SWITCH". Of -Course you could also have a ground issue, but I would start with the dimmer switch. Hope this helps and have an awesome day.

What does the dimmer switch on a 2002 Chevy impala do? And how can I replace it?

There are two "dimmers".. The first is used to switch between high and low beam healamps. This switch is integrated into the "smartswitch" which contains the turn signals as well. The other dimmer switch is for the dashboard lamps and allows you to adjust the brightness of the dashlights. This is part of the the headlamp switch assembly. This is a common failure item in impalas and when it fails it usually results in loss of dashboard lamps when driving at night. Replacement of the headlamp switch is necessary.

Dashboard lights come on then dim out, not fuses. Notice that they come on and stay on when it is warmer ourside.

hi!!

Check wiring, specially the plug on dimmer control, look for loose connector and ground, if OK, check dimmer switch resistance (brite = less oms, dim = more oms.) if no or uneven reading, replace dimmer switch.

Good luck,
