Please note: The lug nuts are off of the car. I am not having trouble removing lug nuts. Wheel is stuck to hub. bought used about 6 months ago. am getting ready to replace rotors and pads. removed lug nut covers and lug nuts. wheels will not come off. tried some light kicking to loosen grip. still not coming.

Chances are the rim is rusted to the hub;turn wheel to the outside and use a shop hammer or heavy dead blow hammer to tap the back side of rim,be careful not to damage rim.You may have to spin wheel and try this at several spots.

Same problem on an 02 X-Type. I called a mechanic and he said to use a
7/8" socket. I have yet to give it a try, but I thought it might help.
I tried to post a solution but didn't realize that I needed to sign up first.

just grinded the head off and drilled it out.
SOURCE: How to replace front rotors
You'll need to take the wheel bearings off. the rotors are bolted to the hub and the bolts are located in the back of the hub thus having to remove the wheel bearings and removed the hub/rotor assy.

Hi Ray,
I put in some time at an auto salvage yard. Aluminum wheels were big sellers and not something we wanted to damage.
When the lug nuts needed some persuading, we got out the high impact 12 pt deep sockets.
First try we used the correct size.
If they were stripped, one size smaller. We hammer them on to the lug and use a breaker bar with a pipe extension.
The only real problems we had were getting the lug nuts out of the sockets.
Good luck and best regards,
Mike
