Yea the car is in lock down mode. Something triggered the security system, and as a result, the computer engaged the ignition kill. Disconnecting the battery alone wont solve the problem. What I would suggest is call a local Chevy dealer and ask to talk to a technician, they know the procedure and can walk you throuogh it right over the phone.

Could be the battery or alternator. Try this. Disconnect the battery cable, either neg or pos doesn't matter. Leave it unconnected for 5 minutes. Then reconnect. Be sure to tighten screws/bolts that hold the cable clamp in place securely. A loose cable will cause the kind of alert you cited, but if the disconnect resets the entire electrical system, it may not re-occur. Other than the two parts mentioned, there aren't any other parts that would cause the problem. Or maybe a "short" in another area.....try the disconnect first. Good luck Michelle.

Security light flash no security system on truck

sometimes turning the ignition on 3 times quickly without starting will reset the computer. If the van has power locks and keyless entry then try using only the keyless entry. Sometimes your car wont have a alarm but an anti theft device which will not allow it to start if it goes off or something triggers it.

i had the same problem on my 98 sonoma. for some reason your passlock system did not recognise your key and went into security. you have to take it to a dealer or a shop with a computer and have them reset your passlock. if you have a buddy or know someone with a scan tool they may be able to do it to. i think the shop here charged $35. but there is no other way to fix it.
