From under front of vehicle, lay under hood and remove the hood latch with a long extension and rachet. This works on most vehicles. God-Bless!

SOURCE: hood release

I had the same problem with WD-40 and man power I over came it. Chances are your latch is rusting / corroded or gummed up. What I did was to lift the passenger side up a little not to much or you will bend the hood, follow the bar as far as you can and spray the release with WD-40. Have someone pull the cable and try moving the release bar on the passengers side back and forth. It may take a little doing but it should eventually release. You know the cable isn't broken because it does release the passengers side, when you finally get the hood open make sure you spray down all three of the latches.

SOURCE: hood latch won't release

This has happened to me several times, this will take two people, but all you need to do is have one person pull the hood release, while person number 2 pushes down on the hood, and then pulls up...that ought to do the trick

My hood latch will not pop the hood just makes a klink noise tried pushing down and pulling up while pulling latch nothing how do i get my hood open

If you are pulling on the hood release inside the car and can't get the hood to open so you can get at the primary latch, the release cable is stretched. I had a car with this problem once. I got it open by reaching for the cable from under the bumper with a heavy-duty needlenose pliers and pulling it the rest of the way after jamming the release handle all the way to the release position inside the car. Once I got the hood open, I cut a strip of metal from the lid of a food can and crimped it around the cable next to the hood latch to take up the slack. I never had any trouble with it after that.

How to open the hood on 05 mitsubishi lancer es after hood release cable broke on engine bay side.

Cut the outer hood release cable sheath (under the dash) back to expose the inner wire cable, then using a pair of locking pliers (Vise Grips) pull on the inner release cable while another person pushes down over the latch area of the hood to relieve pressure on the latch and make it easier to open, the hook is released lubricate the hood latch and hood latch striker with white Lithium Grease (AKA "Lubriplate")

Hood latch cable is broken

Slide under the front of the car with the flashlight and pliers. Shine the light up towards the location of the hood latch and locate the latch release cable, Reach in with the pliers and grab the cable as close to the latch as possible. Once you have a firm grip on the cable, pull on it in the direction it naturally moves (i.e., towards the fender or down, depending on its routing). If the latch does not release, have a helper thump on the hood above the latch with his fist a few times until the latch releases and the hood opens. good-day !

How do i get the hood open on a 1995 chevy caprice 5.7 if the cable is detached from the latch???

Have a helper push down on the hood close to where the latch is. You, under the front bumper, look up at dead center of hood. If you can see and reach the latch where the cable attached, either grab it with pliers and pull latch in same direction as the cable would and tell your helper to stop pushing down and the hood should pop up. A long screwdriver to pry the latch might work if you can't grab it with pliers.

My hood will not pop up when i pull release the cable. I can't get the hood open. Any ideas?

If it feels like the cable is attached when you pull the hood release try having someone push down on the front of the hood near the latch. Once the release is pulled out have the person relieve pressure from the hood once you let go of the release. This works for most stuck hood situations. If that doesn't work try having some one pull up on the hood while the release is pulled. This works when the spring has weakened. Once the hood is opened clean and lubricate the latch assembly to prevent further trouble.

My hood wont open everything intact but the hood wont pop up how do i open it?

first, try smacking the hood at one of the front corners while someone else pulls the release handle. or even after you've pulled on it. if that works, once open, adjust and lubricate the hood latch assembly. if it still won't open, and it's the cable and not the latch you'll have to replace it anyway, so instead of removing the grill, cut the cable behind the pull lever under the dash where you can reach it. then skin the outer cable insulation away from the actual steel cable exposing an inch or two of it. then holding the insulation and plastic housing with pliers, grab the steel cable itself with pliers and pull it to open the hood. then replace the cable. the further you can reach up under the panel the better your chances of getting past the broken part of the cable and avoid removing the grill. you might also be able to gain access from up under the car if you're lucky.

How do you get the hood open if the hood latch wont open

You will need to reach under the top of your hood to see if you can locate the release cable. There should be one on either side of the hood. If you can reach the cable and manage to get one side or the other released, a repetitive bouncing up & down motion on the hood should cause the other side to release.

Alternatively, if you find that the cable has broken inside under the dash, you cat tru to expose the end of the inner cable in order to be able to grasp onto the cable with a pair of vice grips or other form of plyers. Pulling on the inner cable should release the hood latches.

Very close quarters, and tight tolerances.

Hood release cable is broken

Is there any part of the cable inside the cabin that you can pull with a pair of pliers? I suggest that you try that. You may need to disassemble it from the pull handle to make that work.
