2500 HD Pickup... rolled rear passenger side window down, wouldn't roll back up.. checked switch and switch was good... checked motor and it was very hot.. burned up.. replaced motor but the minute I plugged motor in it began to run on its own without button being pushed...disconnected motor and checked wires with test light. Brown wire going to motor becomes hot when plugged into switch.. unplug switch and wire is no longer hot... any suggestions? Thanks.
SOURCE: driver window will roll down but the passenger and rear wont
The first thing that I would do is check for electricty at the motors them sel and work your way back.If there is elec. at the window motor it's self susspect a motor problem.Remove the motor to see if it spins (but it dosen't me its good it could be week)next check for binding in the window mecanism.

The problem may be in the wiring which if you pull up the carpet on the front passenger side by
removing the door floor trim and lifting the carpet you will see the
wiring underneath. Probably laying in water or has been. Look for splices in the
wiring which will have corroded. Repair the wiring then check the fuse.
Another problem may be in the motor found inside the door.
The brushes may have worn out. If so you need to replace the motor.
Ususally the drivers side will fail first since it is the most used.

It is most likely the switch itself. since the down works that means that there is power going to the switch. So, the up position switch is probably worn out.
SOURCE: right window will not roll down..
I have had to fix three out of four windows in the past month.of my 2004 jeep grand cherokee. I went from a semi cold environment to a really hot environment. I was told by Jeep, after the third time of course, that the wires had more play in the hot environment and had shorted out because jeep did not put correct housing over the wires next to the door. If you have the same problem put electrical tape around your working electric windows so it does not happen to your good windows.

Reverse your test light connector, connect it to power so you can check for ground at window motor, flip switch up or down should have ground at both wire's while flipping switch to up or down, more then likely your not going to have ground at the up position, do same test at harness before passenger door switch if no ground master switch bad.

….2500HD continued… Purchased new motor, motor runs perfectly… problem is it runs the minute I plug it in without pressing button… replaced switch and no change. Checking wires that plug to switch I find two wires that are hot.. Orange, and small blue. This changes when plugged into switch, in addition to the orange and small blue the brown then becomes hot.. the brown wire is the one that goes to the motor to lower the window.. it should only become hot when switch is activated as does the large blue wire going to the motor which raises the window. For some reason the brown wire is becoming hot once plugged into the switch without pushing the button.. that’s my dilemma… can’t seem to find a wiring schematic to research... forgot to add nothing changes with the drivers side master control completely disconnected.
