SOURCE: 4wd problem jeep wrangler yj 1995

i just bought a used 97 CHEROKEE but i had the same problem, when i got to looking at it i found out the front driveshaft was shot, look at that, if its not it i would say its probably the transfer case especially with an older vehicle like that which is a very expenxive repair

SOURCE: 1990 jeep yj 4 wheel drive issues

what are you trying to say is that the front wheels wont engage?? if this is your problem? check the actuater on the passenger side axle there are 3 lines that go to it and that is what pulls it in and pushes it out of gear by air.

SOURCE: 2003 jeep wrangler 4x4 auto...transmission is not

Did you check your ATF level? I have an ATF leak somewhere and when my ATF gets really low my auto trans will keep slipping out of gear until I dump another quart or two of ATF fluid into the trans.

Can not shift down while in 4HI in my 2003 4 Runner

what are tires touching,??????
  • pavement
  • snow
  • ice
  • dirt or what. sorry cant see you drive wrong. (blusH)
shift down what? , the 5 speed manual box?
or 4H to 4L transfer case lever??

part time 4wd does not allow running on pavement.
only , ICE or dirt that is the PART time words. meaning.
full time 4wd or AWD is a whole other matter and what your truck has I Can not guess.
is this your first ever 4wd experience?
when ICE covers pavement that is ICE , not pavement tires touch>
see?

this?
SR5 VERSION? NONE TOLD.
"V6 Shift on the fly Multi-Mode 4WD, V8 Full-Time 4WD"

"Torsen limited slip center differential, lockable in H4 or L4
STAY OUT OF LOCK, UNTIL YOU LEARN NOW. (DANGER)

ok if YES< only use Full time mode, never 4Hi part time on pavement.
if you do this wrong damage to transfer case happens
or worse skid off round.. nasty.
us AWD or full time, only
for 4Hi or 4Low or lock mode, only off road or ON ice.
see???????

LOCK TURNS THE CAR INTO A WW2 JEEP,
OR LIKE MY WRANGLER (OWNED 3) AND MORE.CHEROKEE'S; PT 4WD, AND LOTS OF DRIVING IN DEEP SNOW ME, BACK WHEN.
DOING IT WRONG , WINDS UP BOTH FRONT AND REAR AXLES.
CURE THAT MOVE ONE OR MORE TIRES ONTO DIRT./GRAVEL.
NOW SHIFT OUT OF LOCK AT 1/4 MPH (MEANS CRAWL)
SHIFT TO 2WD OR AWD. NOT 4hI OR 4LOW.AND NOT LOCK

Jeep Liberty 4 Wheel Drive won't engage

part time or awd ?
do no engage part time 4wd on dry pavement.!! only on ice or dirt.
do post what your tires are touching? dirt or pavement????????

if stuck in 4L , on dry pavement , pull over to side of road, dirt
then shift out. if no dirt anywhere? sand or gravel or grass.?
then jack up one wheel then deselect 4Low. back do 2WD
options for your car, (do post what you have)
qoute sales brochure:
Those going 4WD can enjoy the standard Command-Trac II, or opt for the Selec-Trac II, featuring full-time AWD, 4WD Lo and a rearward-biased torque split. (end quote)

how you drive both cars, varies greatly.
in your glove box is an operators guide , did you read that yet
under how to drive in 4wd or awd.??????????

2007 chevy trailblazer won't go into 4 wheel drive

Have you had codes checked ? While connected to a good scanner that will check transfer case switch to show if switch is working, and it could be the switch on the side of the transmission.

4wd stuck in 4Lo

it is either the control switch or the actuator. look if light is flashing on push button switch. if so it is stuck. you can check actuator on front axle, to watch and see if it is moving.
